FOUNDATION YEAR STUDENT SUCCESS
Since the Foundation Year began
in 1998 more than 3000 students
have gained entry to undergraduate
programs at UQ. UQFY Alumni
represent nearly 30% of UQ’s
undergraduate international students.
Foundation Year students are
demonstrating strong academic
performance in their undergraduate
studies at UQ with higher average
GPAs when compared to other
international and even local students.

Students are also accepted into other
Australian universities including
Sydney University, Monash, UNSW and
Melbourne University.
SCHOLARSHIPS
A range of scholarships are offered for
study in the Foundation Year. These
scholarships, some of which are country
specific, are awarded on academic
PERCENTAGE %
merit and provide for a 50% reduction
of all tuition fees. The scholarships are
payable retrospectively upon successful
completion of the Foundation Year
and enrolment into UQ undergraduate
programs.
Undergraduate Scholarships are
also awarded by the University of
Queensland for outstanding UQFY
graduates.

Nyasha is now studying Information
Technology. Nyasha finds the weather
enough attractions to keep him entertained
but still focused on his studies. He believes
the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of The
Foundation Year provides an excellent way
to prepare students for university life.
