CQUniversity’s Built Environment and Design Studies offer a range of career opportunities in areas
such as building design, building surveying and certification, and construction management with
employment available in design, architectural, planning, building or engineering firms, government
departments and corporations with a large building portfolio. Whether you want to work in a large
city or small regional town, you’ll have the in-depth knowledge to take the lead in helping build a
brighter and sustainable future. The program is offered exclusively by distance education mode and
can be completed part-time while you are working or seeking employment in the industry.
CA34 ASSOCIATE DEGREE OF BUILDING SURVEYING

This program produces graduates capable of assessing building documentation for code and
standards compliance and inspecting staged works on all classes of buildings, as defined by
the Building Code of Australia (BCA) not exceeding three storeys in height and a total floor
area of 2000 square metres.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Building surveyors (Level 2) interpret and enforce laws and regulations controlling
residential and low-rise commercial buildings and work for local government, state and
federal authorities including licensing and code boards, and private certifiers.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
You must complete 16 courses/96 units of credit as outlined below:
• 8 compulsory courses (Level 1); and
• 8 compulsory courses (Level 2).

Australia on other appropriate visas may study part-time or by external studies if allowed under their visa conditions.
