CQUniversity’s Built Environment and Design Studies offer a range of career opportunities in areas<br />
such as building design, building surveying and certification, and construction management with<br />
employment available in design, architectural, planning, building or engineering firms, government<br />
departments and corporations with a large building portfolio. Whether you want to work in a large<br />
city or small regional town, you’ll have the in-depth knowledge to take the lead in helping build a<br />
brighter and sustainable future. The program is offered exclusively by distance education mode and<br />
can be completed part-time while you are working or seeking employment in the industry.<br />

This program produces graduates capable of assessing building documentation for code and<br />
standards compliance and inspecting staged works on all classes of buildings, as defined by<br />
the Building Code of Australia (BCA) not exceeding three storeys in height and a total floor<br />
area of 2000 square metres.<br />
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES<br />
Building surveyors (Level 2) interpret and enforce laws and regulations controlling<br />
residential and low-rise commercial buildings and work for local government, state and<br />
federal authorities including licensing and code boards, and private certifiers.<br />
PROGRAM STRUCTURE<br />
You must complete 16 courses/96 units of credit as outlined below:<br />
• 8 compulsory courses (Level 1); and<br />
• 8 compulsory courses (Level 2).<br />
