As a Bachelor of Engineering student you will learn and develop expertise leading to<br />

qualification as a professional engineer.<br />

You will acquire, develop and demonstrate technical engineering knowledge and skills<br />

in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering, integrating problem-solving, teamwork and<br />

communication skills. This CQUniversity engineering program incorporates ‘Project Based<br />

Learning’, providing your learning in context, in formal and informal learning environments<br />

such as workshops, classes and project studios.<br />

As a professional engineer you can be a driver of change in society and be not only<br />

responsible for the technological change, but also the impact it has on communities, society<br />

and the environment in general. Professional engineers work with people; they listen, then<br />

set about solving problems for people and communities. Bachelor of Engineering graduates<br />

enjoy a wide variety of challenging career options across a range of industries and<br />

governments sectors.<br />

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES<br />

Graduates having specialised in one of the following: civil, mechanical or electrical<br />

engineering, find employment in a vast array of industry areas. These encompass national<br />

and international public and private industry sectors, including the energy, transportation,<br />

manufacturing, process, construction, mining and education industries.<br />

Civil engineering typically involves infrastructure systems planning, design and supervision<br />

including the construction of buildings and bridges, transport and water resource systems.<br />

Mechanical engineering typically involves planning, design and supervision in climate<br />

control, manufacturing and process and machine systems.<br />

Electrical engineering typically specialises in systems design, development and<br />

maintenance of systems associated with electrical power and energy, telecommunications,<br />

instrumentation and control, microprocessors and electronics.<br />

after from all industry sectors with job offers often made even before students complete their<br />

studies.<br />

PROGRAM STRUCTURE<br />

This program is aimed at the education of professional engineers in one<br />

of three disciplines:<br />

• Civil<br />

• Electrical<br />

• Mechanical<br />

All students enrol in a 100% common first year and then a 75% common second year with a<br />

25% discipline stream component. Students must select their discipline before enrolling in<br />

second year courses, except mining students who need to indicate their discipline in the first<br />

year of study.<br />

The first two years of this program are common to CF47 – Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/<br />

Diploma of Professional Practice(Engineering). Students in this program may be invited to<br />

transfer to the Co-op program subject to their performance and the availability of industry<br />

placement places.<br />
