Graduates having specialised in one of the following: civil, mechanical or electrical
engineering, find employment in a vast array of industry areas. These encompass national
and international public and private industry sectors, including the energy, transportation,
manufacturing, process, construction, mining and education industries.
Civil engineering typically involves infrastructure systems planning, design and supervision
including the construction of buildings and bridges, transport and water resource systems.
Mechanical engineering typically involves planning, design and supervision in climate
control, manufacturing and process and machine systems.
Electrical engineering typically specialises in systems design, development and
maintenance of systems associated with electrical power and energy, telecommunications,
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
This program is aimed at the education of professional engineers in one
of three disciplines:
• Civil
• Electrical
• Mechanical
All students enrol in a 100% common first year and then a 75% common second year with a
25% discipline stream component. Students must select their discipline before enrolling in
second year courses, except mining students who need to indicate their discipline in the first
year of study.
The first two years of this program are common to CF47 – Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/
Diploma of Professional Practice(Engineering). Students in this program may be invited to
transfer to the Co-op program subject to their performance and the availability of industry
placement places.
