Humla, Nepal: Off the Beaten Path with Bodhi Tree
Foundation - Mon, Aug 10 @ 7pm
Bodhi Tree Foundation, for an evening of photos and
discussion about their work improving maternal-child
health in the hidden Himalayas of Nepal. See photos of
breathtaking scenic vistas, raging rivers and waterfalls.
Come hear about cultural experiences in Hindu villages
and Buddhist monasteries from an adventure of a lifetime!
Humla is one of the most remote districts in Nepal located
in the northwest corner in the mid-western region next to
the Tibetan border. Access to health care services here are
extremely limited due to its isolation and lack of resources.
In October 2008, Sarah, a Registered Nurse, led the first
all-women’s trek ever to venture through the district of
Humla. The money raised from the trek paid for 29 local
female community health volunteers & traditional birth
attendants to attend a 5-day safe motherhood training in
Humla. It also paid for the 300 clean delivery kits to be
distributed throughout the region. Bodhi Tree Foundation
is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support
and promote community based activities that focus on
maternal-child health in the district of Humla, Nepal.
