Building Blocks
User Interface (Software)
The User Interface Software communicates with Savant’s entire line of user interfaces including touch panels, remotes, keypads,
mobile devices to On-Screen Displays. The User Interface Software provides advanced two-way control of components and
services that are commonly deployed in automation and control environments. The User Interface Software resides in the
ROSIE Host.
Host
As a key building block, the Host—within a ROSIE system—provides numerous functions including high-level
automation and control functions, User Interface interpretations, system administration and monitoring. In addition, the Host,
within any ROSIE system may act as the main Media Server housing and controlling playback of any iTunes® content (music,
movies, etc.). As a result, a ROSIE Host is an essential component, which must be part of any complete ROSIE Control
Solution. The ROSIE Host is available in the following Savant products as external or integrated solutions.
Model Number 1 ROSIE Host Description External or Integrated
CHS-1000 Rosie Host Controller & Mobile Device Server External
RMF-3600 Rosie System 36 Integrated
Controllers (Linux Processor)
Each ROSIE System must have at least one Controller in a configuration. Multiple Controllers allow ROSIE platforms
to easily scale, meeting any installation requirement. Controllers provide two-way communication to all components within
a system across various interfaces. Communication protocols supported include Serial (RS232/422/485), IR, Relay, GPIO, or
IP. The Controllers also manage Savant hardware including modules in larger ROSIE systems (ROSIE Systems 12,
24 & 36). Controllers are available with Linux processors residing in various ROSIE platforms to meet the demands of
any installation (see Table below).
For example, a ROSIE Touch 13 Wireless Touch Panel can function solely as a User Interface (building block) connected to
a ROSIE System 2, which includes an integrated Host and a Controller. In another example, a ROSIE Touch 13 Wireless
Touch Panel can also act as a Host and a User Interface when connected to a ROSIE System Controller.
1Model Numbers for Savant’s product line are designated by three letters followed by four or five numbers. For example the ROSIE Touch 13 Touch Panel model number is WTP-113B.
