Nominations have been called for an award in<br />
the categories listed below. Your service must<br />
be a current member of the Association to enter<br />
and your achievement must have taken place<br />
since October 2010. You may nominate<br />
another service.<br />
Entries close on Friday September 23,<br />
2011<br />
Winners will be announced at the Annual<br />
General Meeting on 17 October, 2011<br />
2011 categories<br />
• Innovation Award – for a new idea,<br />
improvement or innovation. This may<br />
include new projects which improve services<br />
to clients, involve the community, work in<br />
partnership, and expand your services or<br />
range of food options.<br />
• Working with the Workforce – outstanding<br />
work with volunteers or staff. This may<br />
include projects which assist to recruit<br />
volunteers, recognise volunteer or staff skills<br />
and development. Could also be a training<br />
resource, a volunteer support group or<br />
staffing innovation.<br />
Nominations will be assessed by the invited<br />
members of the NSW Meals on Wheels<br />
Association Board of Governors. These<br />
members are not associated with any members<br />
or services. Applications are given to the<br />
members of the panel without identifying<br />
names for assessment. Each category may have<br />
more than one award given.<br />
In 2012 a new category will be added which<br />
will be looking for any Green/Sustainable<br />
initiatives.<br />

Older Australians, their families, and carers<br />
will now find it easier to access valuable<br />
information about aged care. On 1 July 2011,<br />
there will be a new single information line at<br />
this phone number:<br />
1800 200 422<br />
The new national phone number will include a<br />
range of existing 1800 numbers and will act as<br />
a new single point of entry for people seeking<br />
information and access to aged care services.<br />
This is a further action in a series of steps to<br />
simplify the many and sometimes confusing<br />
sources of information for aged care services.<br />
As well as this single national information line,<br />
improvements have been made to the aged<br />
care website of the Department of Health and<br />
Ageing:<br />
