“My sincere thanks for the scholarship ...
This will help tremendously in supporting
myself while getting an education at the
University of Illinois.
I have grown up on a farm, which taught me
to work hard at whatever I do, including
obtaining a degree in Horticulture. I have found
that financially supporting myself is the most
difficult task -- since working takes time away
from my studies. Scholarship money allows me
to spend even more of my time studying for my
classes.”
Rachel Shaw, University of Illinois
“I was absolutely thrilled at the news of
receiving a scholarship from ILCA. Not only at
the amount to help pay for my school expenses,
but the honor of being selected by an
organization such as ILCA. Since my degree
will be in Landscape Design, I will be involved
with ILCA and the many learning opportunities
it represents.
I have been working in an internship program
at Tyler’s Landscaping in Rockford and have
been learning much about the industry. It
continues to challenge me every day and
reaffirms my decision on my chosen career.”
Susan Montgomery, Kishwaukee College
“After receiving the scholarship for my senior
year at U of I, I worked for an ILCA member for
three years and then started my own company. I
have come full circle – I accepted the scholarship
and now I have paid it back with my
volunteerism. And, in the process, I have helped
my industry association.”
