What is Certification?<br />
It is a national, hands-on testing program administered by the <strong>Illinois</strong> <strong>Landscape</strong> Contractors Association (ILCA) that seeks to recognize<br />
proficiency in the landscape work force and upgrade the status of the landscape professional. Certification recognizes those landscape<br />
technicians who demonstrate they can meet strict performance and safety standards in installation or maintenance modules.<br />
What does the test include?<br />
The test is comprised of written and hands-on field tests. ILCA offers applicants a choice of four specialized modules, Hardscape<br />
Installation, Softscape Installation, Turf Maintenance or Ornamental Maintenance.<br />

The field exams for all four modules will be tested on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Joliet Junior College’s:<br />

Part 1 - Common Core-- everyone must complete these basic landscape knowledge/skills which include written exams and field exams.<br />
The written exam questions on safety, communication, motor vehicles, math and reporting are offered in English and Spanish.<br />
No written exams are given on August 21, 2010.<br />
Part 2 - Specialized Modules – New applicants select and check one module below to match their job skills.<br />
Retake applicants check the test problem(s) needed.<br />

What can I expect on test day?<br />
The field exam is a series of timed, hands-on stations, monitored by one or more judges, requiring applicants to perform a variety of<br />
landscape functions. At the end of each timed problem, applicants rotate to another work station.<br />
Preparing for the Test<br />
Upon registration, applicants will be sent a test booklet containing the current years test problems by email. In addition, applicants may<br />

ILCA cancellation Policy: Cancellation must be received 72 hours prior to event to receive full credit (Tuesday, August 17). After 72<br />
hours the applicant will receive credit minus 35%. No-shows are not eligible for full or partial credit. Please see the complete<br />
cancelation policy on the ILCA web site.<br />
