matte’, either – more velvety-matte, thanks to ‘3D glowing
pigments’, so lips look full and plump, not thin and mean!
I’m loving the bevelled tip, which mimics the shape of a
lipbrush and makes it easy to apply precisely. The stunning
shades span taupe-y nude Very Victoria to natural berry
Bond Girl – but my favourite is Red Carpet Red: a really
film-star bold ruby, which looks surprisingly good with
my English rose colouring (if I do say so myself!).
LIP TIP: To ‘transition’ to a new lipcolour, make-up pro
John Gustafson recommends layering on a new shade, and
applying an existing favourite over the top as a second coat.
The second day, wear the old fave underneath and the
new one on top – and your ‘eye’ will adjust so that on Day
Three, you’ll feel perfectly comfortable in your new shade.
Alternatively, apply lip balm and a swipe of a new lipstick
over the top and blend with a finger for a ‘lip stain’.
Bobbi Brown Luxe Lipstick, £25. I’ve been previewing
this over the summer (launch: 1st October), and it lives
up to the (unusually for Bobbi) glamorous gold, crestembossed
packaging. It’s rich, mega-moisturising, it glides
on effortlessly, delivering maximum coverage with just
one swipe. (No need to keep building this one.) As you’d
expect from Ms. Brown, a massive spectrum of colours
from Mod (nude) through to a vampy wine Brocade. My
favourite? Pink Cloud is a fabulous, deep rose pink.

up the edges. It’s easier that way to avoid that visible lip line.
