About Us
Duaa that may Allah Ta'aala grant them a long life,
with health and happiness (Ameen).
Literally translated Rabetah Al Ulama means “Unity
of Ulama”. The organisation was established in 1979
by eminent local scholars including senior Imams from
Batley. The aims of Rabetah are quite simply to
represent and promote Islam as a dynamic and
purposeful way of life that addresses Economic,
Cultural, Social, Educational, Welfare and other
needs and provides guidance for a peaceful coexistence
with fellow human beings and nature.
Currently Rabetah‟s membership stands at over 150
and they are all qualified in Islamic Theology from
various Islamic Universities worldwide. The diversity
of these individuals and the wealth of knowledge and
experience that they bring is a matter of celebration
with a touch of humility. Alhamdulillah Rabetah is
now a Charity Registered organisation and continues
to improve its governance.
Initially all the founder members were actively
engaged in carrying out religious duties associated
with leading prayers, delivering sermons, teaching
children in the madressahs, and generally providing
advice and guidance to the congregations. Their
profound sincerity and dedication over several
decades remains a matter of great joy in the
community. As new graduates joined Rabetah, the
scope of its activities has expanded enormously. It
has been involved in encouraging Halaal monitoring
and certification issues and holds a seat on the
Halaal Monitoring Committee (HMC). It has also
been active in setting direction on relationships and
sexual health education, religious education and
collective worship in our local schools. Members of
Rabetah, albeit in an individual capacity, provide
pastoral care to inmates in a variety of HM Prison
establishments and the probation service. Most
importantly Rabetah members recognise their noble
duty to serve the Masjid and the madressah. They
generally serve as Imams, assistant Imams, head
teachers or teachers in the Madressah. There are also
a growing number of scholars who are also
professionals, working as Engineers, lawyers, Social
Workers and so on.
Recently Rabetah has become more active and
made significant representation on the Building
Schools for the Future (BSF) project. This was a joint
project with IMWS, PKWA and concerned parents.
This shows what can be achieved when Ulama E
Kiraam, other organisations and parents join forces.
Alhamdulillah by working together we have secured
single sex education in Batley for our children. I look
forward to more collective activities in dealing with
important issues that affect us all. Rabetah is also
working on child fostering projects, care homes for
the development for Muslim patients, disaster relief
work and of course produces its bi-monthly
information magazine.
Rabetah is looking at many future plans for how it
can serve the community and represent Islam. We
would ask all readers to make Duaa to Allah
Subhanahu wa Ta'aala that may He save us from Fitna
and other calamities and may He guide us every step
of the way (Ameen).

PROTECTION OF ONE'S DEEN, LIFE,
FAMILY AND WEALTH
Hazrat Ma'qal bin Yasaar (R.A) narrates:
Once I expressed my fears to Rasulullah over 5 things
in my life. I feared that I would be misled or deviate
from the Siraatul-Mustaqeem. The second was
regarding my life. I feared harm or illness would befall
me. The third was about my children, that they would
suffer Deeni or worldly harm. My fourth concern was
my wife, that she too may suffer physical or spiritual
harm. The fifth fear I had was over my wealth, should
there occur a loss of income or property. After listening
to my fears, Rasulullah taught me the following Dua:
To be recited 3 times morning and evening,

Rabetah is in a unique position that the vast majority
of their congregations still have an
enormous amount of faith and confidence
particularly in the elder eminent scholars of Batley.
Their advice and guidance, backed by their support,
continues to inspire the work of Rabetah. We make
Bismillahi ala deeni wanafsi wawaladi wa ahli wa mali
(May the blessings of Allah be on my Deen, life, children, family and wealth)
