Hunt & Catch: A Local Winemaker’s<br />
Dinner, is set for Friday, Oct. 2, in the event<br />
space at Seventh and Dolores. <strong>The</strong>re,<br />
Caraccioli Cellars — best known for its<br />
superlative, locally made sparkling wines,<br />
along with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir —<br />
and Cantinetta Luca Italian restaurant will<br />
combine forces to present a decadent evening<br />
of food and libation.<br />
<strong>The</strong> event will begin with a 6 p.m. bubbles<br />
reception, when Caraccioli’s award-winning<br />
2007 Brut Cuvee will be offered alongside<br />
seasonal small bites. Luca’s executive chef,<br />
Jason Balestrieri, will prepare dishes to complement<br />
Caraccioli’s Santa Lucia Highlands<br />
wines, and winemaker Michel Salgues will<br />
be there “to enjoy the close of our fall harvest<br />
and to visit with our friends and neighbors in<br />
<strong>Carmel</strong>-by-the-Sea.”<br />
<strong>The</strong> menu is set to include salad of local<br />
greens, Monterey Bay fluke, heirloom tomatoes<br />
and Meyer lemon vinaigrette, paired<br />
with 2011 Chardonnay; house-made pasta<br />
with stewed wild boar, served with 2010<br />
Pinot Noir; braised Corral de Tierra beef<br />
short rib with organic root vegetable gratin,<br />
served with 2011 Pinot Noir; and white<br />
chocolate panna cotta and local<br />
berries, paired with Brut Rosé.<br />

In honor of National Breast Cancer<br />
Awareness Month, the Hyatt Regency<br />
Monterey hotel at 1 Old Golf Course Road<br />

donate $1 from every featured pink cocktail<br />
to the local Breast Cancer Assistance Group<br />

Folktale Winery and Vineyard, which took<br />
over the <strong>Carmel</strong> Valley Road property that<br />
formerly operated as Chateau Julien, will<br />
host its first CRUSH Experience Sunday,<br />
Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in its Vineyard<br />
House.<br />
<strong>The</strong> “unique, interactive event” will offer<br />
guests a chance to “try something new and<br />
make lasting memories,” with a crush competition<br />
followed by a clambake prepared by<br />
chef Christopher Caul of Christopher’s on<br />
Lincoln in <strong>Carmel</strong>. Teams will get down and<br />
dirty by stomping grapes the old-fashioned<br />
way, and then enjoy lunch among the vines.<br />
<strong>The</strong> cost is $100 per person, which<br />
includes the crush, lunch with wine pairings,<br />
a custom-labeled bottle of Folktale Pinot<br />
Noir signed by the winemaker, and a limited<br />

Fisherman’s Wharf. Designated “the most<br />
visited attraction in Monterey,” by the<br />
Monterey County Convention & Visitors<br />
Bureau, the wharf is host to multiple shops,<br />
restaurants, fishing charters and other businesses.<br />
