Corvette Club
Greetings Nobles and Ladies!
Welcome to our newest member, Chip Mong. He will be
attending functions and parades in one of his two – yes two –
1978 “Indianapolis 500” pace cars.
Corvette Trivia:
1978 was the 25-year anniversary of the Corvette which
supported commemorative emblems and special two-toned
paint schemes. There were 6,502 pace car replicas built in ’78
that were the black over silver paint scheme offering front and
rear spoilers with the “Official Pace Car” decals and various
other “500” decals, logos and badges. This year also offered
two versions of the 350 CID engine; the L-48 @ 185 hp and
the L-82 @ 220 hp.
Chip is the proud owner of one of each of these special
edition vehicles.
Our February meeting was well attended and many discussions
took place regarding the success of the Potentate’s
Ball, the calendar sales, and the upcoming circus. The March
meeting should be a packed house since most of the

Snowbirds will be back in town. This will be the meeting that
will bring our Club into motion for deciding most of the
events, schedules and functions for the balance of the year.
This is always an exciting time of the season since we all
know we are getting closer to fair weather and can bring the
Vettes out to play. Of course, one of the most anticipated
events we all look forward to is the Kerbela Fun Fest which
begins May 1. Last year was a fantastic turnout with 19 cars in
the parade; however, let’s all plan to attend and make this the
best year ever.
Our next meeting is Thursday, March 13, beginning with
dinner and fellowship at 6:30 p.m. in the Oasis Lounge and
meeting at 7:30 p.m. If you cannot attend on the 13th, we
meet the second Thursday of every month, so please come
and join us.

Hi Nobles!
It’s been a very busy year so far
with the Florida Visitation, Colts games,
playoffs and the Super Bowl.
The Murat Leadership Seminar, the
Potentate’s Ball, Little Pig Initiation (congratulations
Bill Rasner), and now the
Shrine Circus is about to wrap up another
great year for Murat. I would be remiss if
I didn’t thank all of our members who
come out to the circus and volunteer
countless hours to make our Murat Shrine
Circus such a huge success. Not only this
year, but year after year after year.
Thank you Club members and all
Shriners for your dedication to our great
fraternity.
Do you have a friend who has
talked about joining the Scottish Rite, York
Rite or Murat Shrine? Get them a petition;
help them enjoy all of the fun groups that
involve you, your family and friends.
Remember, you’re never too old to
become a Mason or Shriner. And, you’re
never too old to have fun while helping
kids.

Rite Cathedral. Start your planning process
now and get a friend signed up for Blue
Lodge, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine.
July 12 will be a full ceremonial at
Murat. Doors should open at 7:30 a.m. for
registration.
October 18 is a one-day class at
Murat.
December 13 will be a full ceremonial
at Murat. Doors should open at 7:30
a.m. (tentatively)
The Ringmaster’s Banquet will be
held on April 5. The dinner is free for all
those members who worked three shows
or more. If you did not work at least three
(3) shows, but want to attend the banquet,
the cost is $20 per person. Spouses
or significant others are welcome to
attend, even if they did not work. Please
purchase those tickets at the Shrine
Office.
Look for our “BIG RED FIRE
ENGINE” in St Louis at the Imperial
Session June 29 – July 3, 2008. Room
reservations are now being accepted
through May 15 through the Fraternal
Office.

calendars and receiving a plaque for
2007.
Well it’s time to close this article for
another month and start getting the old
golf clubs out, clean and ready to start the
golf season. Next month (April 26) will
kick off the golf season with the annual
Brownsburg Blue Lodge (Jeff Zaring) Golf
Outing.
Don Melvin, the old golf meister,
keeps everyone informed through the
Murat Magazine of the upcoming golf outings
sponsored by Murat. Get your information
to Don so he can include it in the
magazine, which helps us raise monies
for Shriners’ events. Let’s make all of our
golf outings fun while we raise money for
kids and our communities.
