Railroad Club
Nick Noe, one of our own Murat
Railroad Club members, was our speaker
at our April 24 meeting. Nick gave us
an update on past and current rail passenger
service in Indiana and the
Midwest. Don’t you just wish we had
Chanters
Motor Corps
10
some of those nice passenger trains running
now? Hopefully, some of these
passenger trains will be coming to
Indianapolis.
A Retrospective
The month of May brings Memorial Day and an opportunity to reflect on the
memory of comrades, loved ones, military casualties – all those people who in
some manner touch our lives and deserve to be preserved in our thoughts. I took
a look through 15 years of Chanter membership directories and thought this was a
fitting time to identify the names of members of the Unit who have passed during
those years and to honor them for their contribution to our fraternity.
These names are not in alphabetical order, nor do we indicate the year of
death. I hope that in reading through the list, you remember many of them as fondly
as I do.
Robert Heckman Nelson Hunter Jack Peasley
Russell Peek Charles Applegate Bill Brandt
Don Frakes Paul Jones Walter Shaw
Carl Siersdale Bob Stucker Tom Van Arsdale
Robert Gerow John Hoenshel Robert Morris
Joe Peasley George Strand Ray Allen
John Coursey Bill Hixon Paul Imle
Noble McCormick Keith Wilson Russ Stevens
Marion Mathas Max Copeland Jerry Williamson
Ed Olt Roger Stump Robert Eicher
Barney Young
These are our veterans, our contributors, the men who donated time and
energy to keep the Chanters vibrant and alive. We honor them!
It’s parade time once again and we are all looking forward to a fun year of
parading and fellowship. The Motor Corps is here to assist your Unit with the latest
information on upcoming parades, but we need you to attend our meetings so
we can support your needs and help you get better participation in your organized
event.
Our goal in 2007 is to have every Unit be a part of Motor Corps so we can
make the 2007 parade season successful and fun. We at Motor Corps also know
that our officers must be more involved in your meetings, so let us know how we
can help. Together we will make this season our best and most organized ever!
We meet the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Mecca Room.
Contact Tom Austin at 752-0519 if you have any questions. We look forward to
seeing you at our next meeting.
model railroading, Big Boy railroads,
trips to railroad related facilities, etc. If
this interests you, come up to one of
our meetings. Look in the Oasis
Lounge for a Noble with railroad type
clothing and he will either direct you or
show you the way to the Railroad Club
rooms. We are unique. Come join us in
fun and fellowship
Shrine taillight stickers are still
available from the Fraternal Office as
well as from Murat Railroad Club officers.
Let’s light up your car taillights
Nobles,
I would like to start with congratulations
to our newest member, Noble
Jon Duncan. And congratulations to
our own Jon Porter on being appointed
to the Consistory line at the
Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite. I
would like to say thank you to the
Railroad Club for giving us a tour and
introduction into their activities after
our March Stated Meeting. A lot of
things are happening around the Murat
and I hope you are enjoying the year
thus far.
NexGen is practicing and making
ready for the journey to the Imperial
Session. If you are a Noble under the
age of 46, please come out and visit
with us on the second Tuesday of each
month. We meet in the Oasis around 6
p.m. for dinner and then move to our
meeting room at 7 p.m. Hope to see
you there!
I would like to add a special
thanks to my first and second vice presidents,
Matt Boyer and Luke Stark, for
all of their support.
