500 Club Rick Solly Our new parade chair, Darrell Brumbarger, and car drivers are starting to consider our parades for this coming season. We have temporarily changed our board meeting time to 7 p.m. instead of 6:30. There was an error in our last article. Below is the corrected list of our new officers. On December 7, 2011, the last Stated Meeting of the 500 Club held our election of new officers for 2012. They are as follows: Gary Lucas, President; Darrell Brumbarger, First Vice President; Bill Davis, Second Vice President; Bruce Raymond, Three-Year Board; Tim Plank, Two-Year Board; Mike Wagner, Larry DeVoss, and Bud Whitis, One-Year Board; Dan Price, Chairman; and Rick Solly, Secretary- Treasurer. The 500 Club's yearly awards banquet was held on Saturday, December 10, at Squealers BBQ. Everybody had a good time and ate like pigs. Ha. Ha. During the banquet, Dan Price was awarded a President's Award plaque for his service as president for 2011. Bill Davis was awarded the Mr. 500 plaque for his everlasting presence and support at all our parades. Congratulations to all for a successful year. We are looking forward to a great 2012. Veteran Car Club Police Club Randall West March Madness is upon us and for the nobles of the Mystic Shrine, it means Circus! Circus! Circus! Chief Rabban Jim Priest has worked very hard to present a Super Circus and he has had the full support of the Police Club all the way. Thanks to all of you who volunteered to park those buses, seat the children, provide escorts, and attend to a myriad of other security issues. Notice the new author of your Club article. President Don Weilhammer, Jr. finally realized that with all his other duties, children and home life, there were not enough hours in the day. Plus, Don still works full time. I am happy to assume this responsibility. Please contact me with items you would like included in the monthly article. Bear in mind that the articles are due a month in advance. This one will appear in the March issue and it’s due on or before February 1. On the topic of March, “Oh What a Night,” our Potentate’s Ball, is the 24th. The Police Club has two tables and as of January 23, there were only a few seats left. Contact our president for remaining seats. Let’s have a good Police Club showing at the Potentate’s Ball; after all, anyone named “Flatfoot” is a guy after our hearts! The parade season is about to begin and our Drill Team is fired up and ready to go. It will be a tall order to surpass last year’s season, not only with all the Team’s awards but escorting the beams was a very special honor. We will get a parade schedule out ASAP so everyone knows and can support our Drill Team. Remember, you can always call the Hot Line at (317) 252-9027 for Drill Team updates and Club news. The Club is interested in any ideas you may have or would like to see implemented … possibly a bus trip to Wrigley or a dinner/dance with our ladies? Bring your ideas to the next meeting and let’s get them worked out. Remember, you may be paying your dues but if you’re home sitting on the couch, you are missing the true feeling of fraternity. Get off that couch and get involved. Once you get involved, you will get someone else involved and the next thing you know, our attendance grows and our membership grows. Let’s follow Illustrious Sir’s theme for 2012, BOLDLY GO! Chris Bottorff Spring fever is upon us, the old cars are being cleaned up and started, oil has been changed, and everything necessary to begin parading is getting done. Our new president for 2012 is Chris Fields who is the son of one of the founding fathers of our Club. We are very happy to have him follow in his father’s footsteps. The Murat Veteran Car Club is a Installation 2012 group of Shriners who have interests in antique, collectible or special interest vehicles. Our aim is to help crippled children walk and play. Our goal is to promote the Murat Shrine name in front of the public and to promote the ideals of Shrinedom. We parade in our vehicles in the summer months, go on overnight trips or gather at members' homes. We do not require ownership of a vehicle—only the interest in preserving them. Our meetings are at the Shrine temple, 510 N. New Jersey St., Indianapolis, IN 46204, on the second Monday evening of the month at 7 p.m. in our basement clubroom. Ladies and guests are invited. Come visit a meeting and see what a friendly group we are. Smyrna Shrine Guild Hello to all … spring is coming and we are looking forward to FUN. In February there was no Guild Night due to Super Bowl festivities. However, our Stated Meeting was very informative and FUN for all. We had our first Cold Sands and congratulations to Cynthia Pierce, our newest member. Hopefully, March will be as fun and exciting as every other month. Spring is coming and we are thinking flowers! Yes, ladies, we are going to be kicking off our flower sale this month. We are hoping for a big sale, and I am looking forward to having beautiful flowers around my yard as well as hanging baskets all over. Our flowers will be delivered in time for Mother's Day—that's great timing. Decorating, gift giving and everyone loves flowers. Flyers will be at the meetings. Melanie T.
