Program Description: Our intensive graduate programs<br />

are small, vibrant and supportive communities for growing as a<br />

student, honing your craft as a writer, and obtaining experience as<br />

an educa<strong>to</strong>r. Developed by poets for poets, the Master of Fine Arts<br />

in Poetry is a small, intimate graduate experience that encompasses<br />

a wide breadth of poetic traditions. <strong>The</strong> two-year program fosters<br />

close working relationships with our accomplished, award-winning<br />

faculty and a supportive environment in which <strong>to</strong> grow as a poet<br />

and as a student of poetry. Columbia’s three-year Master of Fine<br />

Arts in Nonfiction features intensive study of nonfiction writing in the<br />

center of Chicago’s his<strong>to</strong>ric and lively cultural scene. It’s a small,<br />

intimate program that ensures close attention from experienced,<br />

well-published faculty as you produce a book-length manuscript <strong>to</strong><br />

complete your degree.<br />

Program Description: <strong>The</strong> Columbia University School<br />

of the Arts MFA <strong>Writing</strong> Program, offering concentrations in<br />

Fiction, Nonfiction and Poetry, and a joint course of study in<br />

Literary Translation, is highly regarded for artistic diversity and<br />

for its outstanding faculty of acclaimed writers and edi<strong>to</strong>rs. <strong>The</strong><br />

rigorous approach <strong>to</strong> literary instruction requires 60 credits<br />

over 2-3 years of study. Extracurricular programming includes<br />

the <strong>Creative</strong> <strong>Writing</strong> Lecture Series, Nonfiction Dialogues,<br />

student reading series, Our Word: Writers of Color, and events<br />

<strong>to</strong> introduce students <strong>to</strong> edi<strong>to</strong>rs and agents. Internships,<br />
