Program Description: Ashland University offers degree<br />
tracks in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction with a cross-genre<br />
option. <strong>The</strong> program is characterized both by an insistence on<br />
high aesthetic standards for the creation of new literature and by<br />
an emphasis on a supportive community of writers. Following the<br />
University’s century-old tradition of “Accent on the Individual”, the<br />
MFA at AU provides writers a nurturing and challenging atmosphere<br />
for developing their craft, with a student-teacher ratio of no greater<br />
than 5 <strong>to</strong> 1 in each course.<br />

Program Description: Come <strong>to</strong> the Twin Cities and be<br />
a part of a vibrant literary community where you’ll engage the<br />
world thoughtfully, deepen and broaden your artistic sensibilities,<br />
and enjoy individual attention with a 5:1 student <strong>to</strong> faculty<br />
men<strong>to</strong>r ratio. <strong>The</strong> Augsburg MFA in creative writing is a two-year<br />
low-residency program with tracks in fiction, creative nonfiction,<br />
poetry, screenwriting and playwriting and concentrations in<br />
translation, teaching, and publishing. Students enrolled in the<br />
MFA’s publishing sequence are the edi<strong>to</strong>rs of a literary press<br />
that sponsors a national writing competition and publishes a<br />
book-length collection of prose or poetry each year.<br />
