car Clubs than you can
poke a stick at and the
most amazing gathering
of over 1,800 classic and vintage cars
from the turn of the last century!
All makes and marques were
represented in this unique display
hosted by Shannons as one of their
premiere annual events, where even
more amazing was to see them in
drive as a convoy around Sydney
Motorpsort park.
The MBCNSW had a prime spot near
the track entry, with a great turnout
of vehicles. Our 45 Club members,
parked their cars around 9.30am.
Soon dusters are out, as are picnic
tables and chairs for some, while
others prefered to go and explore the
expansive classic car displays.
This year our Club display included
a wide range of Mercedes-Benz from
the 1950s to the present day. The
popular and iconic R107s abounded,
Geoff Giles, George Timothy, Vince
150
Thompson and Mike Fleming brought
their respective cars. Michael
Malik had his W116 6.9 there, Bill
Greenville brought his R129 with
John and Albert in their 114 coupés.
However, all these paled when
compared to the very special and
rare red 1936 500 SSK replica, which
proved very popular with the crowds!
The Shannons Eastern Creek Classic
car event is getting bigger each year,
and it highlights anniversaries of
various brands, marques and specific
models.
There is a great showground
atmosphere at the track, with doubledecker
bus rides, fire engines,
queues for food and drinks, plus a
rock band playing in the pit garage
competing against all the growling
V8 performance engines.
This year celebrated fifty years of
the Mini Deluxe, the Mini Cooper S
and Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, as
well as the HD Holden.
All these classic vehicles gleamed
