Maartje Dijkstra<br />

Maartje is a Dutch fashion designer based in Rotterdam.<br />

She studied at ARTEZ/HKA, the Netherlands, where she<br />

graduated as a Bachelor in Fashion Design in 2006.<br />

In 2007 she started her own High fashion/couture<br />

label, where she designs and creates individualistic,<br />

sculptural, progressive, hand-crafted fashion collections,<br />

accessories and illustrations.<br />

interweaving a sense of mobility,<br />

a connected audience and a<br />

good PR splash.<br />

It was a tiny team, working at<br />

light speed. A truly collaborative<br />

experience where I could lead<br />

a team in a creative endeavour<br />

that didn’t necessarily have<br />

any boundaries. Sometimes<br />

I’d ask a dreamy question out<br />

loud, hoping for a yes and<br />

I’d get it, with bells on! Our<br />

only parameters where set by<br />

HoF on length of dress, colour<br />

palette, a bit of styling and the<br />

requirements for the outcome.<br />

It was a way to celebrate their<br />

moment on the Red Carpet as<br />

BAFTA title sponsors; as the<br />

peoples dress; an accessible<br />

idea that could exist in a retail<br />

space, a hot house co-creation<br />

of design elegance and<br />

technological playfulness. The<br />

results: the critics loved it, twitter<br />

loved it, we loved it, the press<br />

at large loved it, the Tech press<br />

loved it!<br />

The future: we’re in early stages<br />

R&D on the future of #theDress<br />

– next gen tech here we come….<br />
