In this report Prof. Hideki Kyogoku reviews the history of the technology in Japan as well as its current status. He also presents the work being undertaken by TRAFAM on the development of the next generation of metal AM systems and materials. 41 A story of failure and success in metal AM: The reality of developing a titanium bike part Metal AM promises to enable smaller organisations to compete with global corporations in the development of new products.
