Bands sought for 14th annual JCC Battle of the Bands
Calling all high school rockers! The JCC
of Syracuse is once again seeking rock and
other musical groups to enter and play
in its Battle of the Bands concert. This
14th annual competition will be held on
Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the
JCC on 5655 Thompson Rd., DeWitt.
The winning band will receive a $200
cash prize, eight hours of recording studio
time at More Sound studio, Syracuse, and
the opportunity to play in a special JCC
2016 Spring Showcase concert. Battle of the
Bands entry forms are available online at
www.jccsyr.org and at the JCC’s front desk.
Registration is $40 per band. The deadline
to enter is Jan. 4, 2016.
“We had such a great Battle of the
Bands concert last year,” said Mick Hagan,
JCC’s director of Children and Teen
Services. “The diverse styles of music and
quality of the musicians were incredible,
and the turnout was excellent as usual. I
can’t wait to see what kind bands we get to
enter this year.”
Each JCC Battle of the Bands
competition has typically drawn up to ten
bands from all over Central New York. The
shows are filled with quality talent and

Judges for the 2016 Battle of the
Bands will be Ryan Gorham, Gorham
Brothers Music, Syracuse; Chris Baker,
music and entertainment reporter for
The Post-Standard; and Katrina Tulloch,
entertainment reporter for The Post-
Standard. Admission to the show is $9 and
open to the public. For every high school
student admission, the JCC will donate
$1 to his or her school district’s music
department.
