Calling all Bowlers!<br />
The bowls green has been laid, although it will take at least until summer 2008 to<br />
establish itself.<br />
We have started a Thursday afternoon session of Carpet bowls, albeit, somewhat<br />
under subscribed.<br />
There is a need to establish a register of interest in the versions of bowls in order to<br />
drive forward the acquisition of right equipment and venues for those registered<br />
interests. Remember although the Green has been provided by the Developers there<br />
will be a requirement for a Pavilion in the fullness of time.<br />
For this purpose I would call on those Bowlers and would be Bowlers to contact me<br />
indicating their particular interest be it Green Bowls, Indoor Short Mat or Carpet<br />
Bowls.<br />
As I understand it there is a need solicit the help of half a dozen or so people, willing<br />
to be involved in getting a Club established in advance of the Green being ready, to<br />
form the founding Committee.<br />
In the meantime the undersigned would be interested to hear from those keen to<br />
join us for a Thursday afternoon game of carpet bowls at the Hub, say, 3 to 5<br />
p.m. And depending on the generated interest moving to an evening slot.<br />
There is also still the possibility of receiving the equipment for Short mat bowling<br />
from Fenstanton due to the closure of their Village Hall.<br />

Greetings from Cambourne Library<br />
If you have an under 5 in your family you can enrol them on our Bookcrawl<br />
programme. Your child needs to become a member of the library<br />
and we then issue them with a sticker collection card; each time they take<br />
out 1 or more books we give them a Bookstart Bear sticker. When they<br />
have collected 5 stickers they receive a certificate, there are 10 certificates<br />
to collect. Just ask at the counter next time you and your child are visiting the library.<br />
No doubt you will have noticed that we have a new machine on our library counter, this is our self-issue machine.<br />
It will shortly be moved to its permanent location beside the library drop box. It is very easy to operate<br />
and we hope that you will make good use of it, particularly if there are queues at the counter. Of course we<br />
enjoy chatting with you when we issue your books but appreciate that sometimes you are in a hurry or need<br />
some privacy and that is when the self-issue will come in useful. Staff are happy to help you use it, but I can<br />
assure you that it is a very straight forward machine to use.<br />
Story time and rhyme time continue to be popular on Friday mornings at 9.30. We have an enthusiastic team<br />
who delight and entertain the 0-4’s with their story telling skills. If you are unsure about dates please check at<br />
the counter.<br />
Spring seems to be coming and as a result the glass sculpture is beginning to light up the reception area.<br />
Look out for the beautiful colours as you come in, it looks spectacular!
