When we thought we’d be quiet, we were busy – and then the opposite would happen. That said, business was still up on the previous 12 months due to buoyant sales across our entire composite door range and an influx of new customers towards the end of the year. Panels still have their place and while the demand exists for this long-established product, we will continue to offer it as part ofour comprehensive portfolio for the retail replacement entrance door market. Punctuating the spasmodic trading conditions of the last 12 months was the launch of our high-performance Meridian door, which has been very well-received by our customers. Its presence in showrooms nationally is really starting to build momentum now and we’re expecting sales of this 70mm “We’re already manufacturing up to five Meridians a day, and this figure is growing” premium composite door to increase steadily in 2016. So what makes it so special? Offering the highest specifications in security and A-rated thermalefficiency, the Meridian door has a double-rebate with triple weatherseals and 50mm tripleglazing that delivers outstanding weather, energy and acoustic performance. It is manufactured to achieve Secured by Design as standard and is fitted with a superior secure multi-locking system. Thermally efficient It’s innovative too, having auvalue as low as 1.0. To further underpin the Meridian door’s credentials as a truly industryleading product, tests have shown it is 19% more thermally-efficient than a 48mm solid timber core composite door and 17% more thermally-efficient than a44mm traditional timber panelled door. These sustainable and proven credentials are backed up by extensive tests and add to the product’s overall appeal to discerning consumers atwhom this product is aimed. Yes, it’s amore expensive niche product, but wehave been pleasantly surprised at the response. This niche is much bigger than we thought! We’re already manufacturing up to five Meridians aday,and this figure is growing. As the economy continues to strengthen, property owners are feeling more confident and with more money in their pockets, they are prepared to splash out on improving their homes.
