Charity Boxing Dinner<br />

VERSUS<br />

On Saturday 14 th November 2015, Lions Club of<br />

Stowmarket &District held their annual charity<br />

boxing dinner at the Debenham Sports and<br />

Leisure Centre with more than 300 local<br />

business sponsors and supporters donning their<br />

dinner jackets. All enjoyed afabulous three<br />

course dinner arranged by Hatfields Catering<br />

and afull programme of very impressive boxing<br />

between Police Clubs of GB and the Royal Navy<br />

which was presided over byofficials from the<br />

Amateur Boxing Association.<br />

This was the 24 th Charity Boxing Dinner<br />

founding organiser Lion Ernie Pearce had<br />

hosted. Over the years Ernie had contributed<br />

over tens of thousands of pounds to Lions’ local<br />

charities through this event and was overjoyed<br />

to receive astanding ovation from the crowd on<br />

the night.<br />

The evening raised awhopping £12,500 which<br />

was distributed to Lions charities, Sproughton<br />

School for Parents, Macmillan Cancer Support,<br />

Police charities, Suffolk Accident and Rescuse<br />

Service and St. Johns Ambulance.<br />
