MY BETT Products and services to support the STEM subjects will be a key theme throughout Bett 2016 K’NEX K’NEX will be showcasing its range of construction products developed with teachers to enhance the teaching of key STEM concepts. Dynamic K’NEX models offer hands-on learning opportunities that encourage scientific inquiry, investigation and experimentation. Each set in the K’NEX range comes with teacher guides, lesson ideas and student guides (stand E65). National STEM Centre The National STEM Centre works with partner organisations to improve and support STEM education. The centre houses the UK’s largest collection of STEM teaching and learning resources. Freely available physical and eLibrary collections contain more than 8,000 teaching resources and feature contemporary materials, including print, multimedia and practical activities, and archive resources from recent decades (Stand C454). Daydream Education Daydream Education will unveil Maths Tutor, a multi-platform app, which features a national curriculum alignment section, a variety of tutorials, interactive features, real-life scenarios and assessments to facilitate learning and improve pupils’ understanding of key maths skills and topics (stand E440). LEGO Education LEGO Education provides core science sets that enable a hands-on creative learning approach. The LEGO Mindstorms EV3 programme challenges secondary students to apply their knowledge of physics, mathematics and engineering to design robotic systems that perform particular functions in context (stand E141). 3P Learning IntoScience is a digital resource for use at school and at home, accessible via PCs or a variety of tablet devices. Through engaging 3D environments, virtual experiments and deep contextual activities, all fields of science are brought to life. Learners can expand their learning through inquiry, knowledge, application and reasoning (stand C280). PIXIE Code First time exhibitor, PIXIE Code, will be demonstrating its new approach to teaching programming concepts. Pixie, inspired by Scratch and based on Blockly, develops a whole “ecosystem” of academic management, courses, classes and teaching materials, all organised around an integrated programming environment (Bett Futures zone). Science Bits Science Bits is a repository of multimedia science lessons that promote a constructivist educational model, based on inquiry, critical STEM thinking, discovery and learning-by-doing (stand H418). Vernier Software and Technology Vernier’s Go Wireless family of sensors allow students to engage in remote data-logging both in the classroom and in the field. Students can use the collection of general-purpose wireless sensors to remotely monitor, collect and analyse data with their mobile devices (stand B210). Fourier Education In 2013, Fourier launched the einstein world learning platform, which begins with their einsteinTablet+. The Tablet+ is an interactive science education device, incorporating built-in sensors, external sensors, interactive multimedia and hands-on experiment and data analysis software. Its sister product, einsteinLabMate+, with its six built-in sensors, turns any computer or tablet into a wireless, digital science lab (stand D105). TechSoft UK TechSoft supplies the latest CAD/CAM systems to schools, colleges and universities. It also offers a range of Computer Aided Manufacturing solutions from knife cutters and laser cutters to 3D printers. All the products are backed with training and support (stand: A160). Timstar Laboratory Suppliers Established in 1970, Timstar is a provider of science equipment and resources for the effective teaching of biology, chemistry and physics. Its offer includes advice, support, training and CPD workshops (stand G260). Pi-Top Pi-Top makes it fun to teach computing and STEM with Raspberry Pi. It is a DIY laptop or 13.3 inch screen all-in-one desktop (stand F60). Intellisense Intellisense has been working with universities and teachers for years to develop STEM applications for primary and secondary education. Its leading product, the LabCamera, is a natural science exploration and datalogging laboratory, which allows students and teachers to carry out scientific observations and measurements. Fizika, meanwhile, is a physics simulator, which helps students to understand the physics beyond the theory and classic laboratory experiments (stand G431). Data Harvest Group Data Harvest is a manufacturer and supplier of specialist educational science and technology equipment, ranging from data-logging and control systems to standalone science products and construction sets for primary and secondary education. New for BETT 2016 is its K’NEX Robotics Set (stand G260). HUE HUE’s products include the HUE HD camera, used in schools as a multipurpose camera and visualiser, which has also been combined with stop motion animation software in the HUE Animation Studio kit. At Bett is the new HUE HD Pro camera, which can capture a full A4 sheet, has built-in lights and includes presentation software called HUE Intuition (stand B236). MY BETT Bett 2016 will once again host an SEN zone and a dedicated SEN information point. We look at some of the exhibitors Nasen Information Point Special needs association nasen will host the SEN Information Point at Bett 2016, providing visitors with advice and guidance on SEN topics, resources and seminars at the show. Key among the discussions will be the free online training which is being launched by nasen in February 2016 in order to help embed the wide-ranging reforms contained within the new SEND Code of Practice. The free training is being created by nasen, who are the providers of the National Award for SEN Coordination. Texthelp Texthelp’s user-friendly literacy and learning solutions provide students with support through reading, writing and research features. They can be used when children are learning to read, studying at home or preparing for further/higher education (stand C141). Crick Software Crick produces inclusive literacy software and apps aimed at allowing all pupils to access the curriculum and demonstrate knowledge. Among its products, the Clicker Apps give learners access to literacy support tools, while for those working with struggling writers in secondary or further Special needs education, WriteOnline is Crick’s talking word processor (stand D240). Osborne Technologies Osborne Technologies is the creator of immersive learning environments for SEN and mainstream schools. The SensoryPod is a complete multisensory package for installation inside or out (stand SN11/E100). Soundbeam Soundbeam uses new wireless technology requiring no computer. Touch switches and motion sensors make Soundbeam a tool for selfexpression, music performance and composition for learners at any point on the disability spectrum (stand SN102). Educater The Educater system is a person-centred communication system built specifically for the education sector. It is designed to reduce the administration burden within several key areas, including school tracking and assessment, journal and SEND paperwork (stand F75). TAPit The TAPit platform is the “Touch Accessible Platform for Interactive Technology”. It is an assistive learning centre using “intended touch” to serve each individual’s SEN (stand SN90). Rising Stars The award-winning systematic phonics-based reading intervention programme Dockside is designed for older pupils and works to build confidence with a step-by-step phonics approach to engage and motivate with real-life stories that students can relate to (stand C116). JellyJames The Bett 2015 award-winning developmental dyscalculia assessment and intervention programme, Dynamo Profiler, provides an individual number sense developmental profile with an intervention plan. Dynamo Maths is also an award-winning dyscalculia and low maths achievers intervention programme (stand SN65). EducationCity Used in more than 15,500 schools, EducationCity is a teaching, learning and assessment resource, aimed at children with SEN of all ages. Interactive activities cover English, mathematics, science, computing, French, Spanish and English as an additional language. It is mapped to UK and worldwide curricula (stand D360).
