CITY FIX
The multi-screen cinema is just a stone’s throw from
The Hall for Cornwall – home to a constantly changing
programme of the best in live entertainment featuring
artistes who love coming to this county as much as you do.
Then, there is the hugely engaging Royal Cornwall Museum
telling stories of Cornwall and its fascinating history.
Rising magnificently above it all, and not to be missed –
because you can’t! – is the breathtaking architecture of
the cathedral. Take a break from the hustle and bustle to
spend some time absorbing the serenity of this magnificent
building. Admire the stunning stained glass windows and
gothic artwork, visit the coffee shop or relax and take a seat
in the impressive nave and allow yourself to be captivated
by the music of the choir or organist for a while.
If you are looking to take time out, and want to
enjoy some open space, Truro also offers beautifully
kept parks and award winning gardens, which are
easily accessible from the city centre, perfect for
relaxing and letting the kids run free. With a splash
of colour from the many beautifully maintained floral
displays around every corner too – it’s a city that
prides itself on its gardens and it breathes through
its welcoming open spaces.
The Cornish are proud of all their natural wonders, and
rightly so, but they also know how to build a capital city
too – and a visit to their county isn’t complete without
a trip to visit a hidden jewel in the Cornish crown. The
county’s capital city lies right at its heart – just a short
five miles from the surfing haven of the north coast, and
with some of the best sailing in the UK practically sitting
on its south coast. Getting there is easy too, with nine
city centre carparks and two new Park and Ride services.
There are also well connected rail and bus stations, as well
as a passenger ferry service to take you in and out of the
city by boat along the river. So wherever you’re staying in
Cornwall, the great little city of Truro is just a skip away.
