There are two separate schemes – one for hotels
and one for guest accommodation.
Hotel Categories include:
Hotel, Country House Hotel, Small Hotel, Town
House Hotel and Metro Hotel.
Guest Accommodation Categories include:
Guest Accommodation, Bed & Breakfast, Guest
House, Farmhouse, Inn, Restaurant with Rooms
and Room only.
Awards – Gold, Silver and Breakfast Awards
are given to accommodation going that extra
mile to make your stay extra special. Self-catering
and serviced apartments along with Holiday,
Touring & Camping Parks are able to achieve a
Gold award only.
AA Yellow Star Guest Accommodation
AA Gold Stars are awarded to the very best of
Guest Accommodation within the 3, 4 and 5 star
ratings.
Self-Catering
These ratings reflect the overall quality of the
property ranging from 1–5 stars.
Individual Caravan Holiday Homes
Includes Caravan Holiday Homes situated on
Farms, Caravan Parks, etc, which are let by the
owner as self-catering accommodation.
Holiday, Touring Parks and Camping Parks
These ratings reflect the overall quality of the park
ranging from 1-5 stars / pennants.
Welcome Awards These distinctive awards are granted to
establishments that specialise in providing additional facilities,
care and commitment to the needs of specific customer groups,
such as Cyclists, Families, Walkers and those travelling with Pets.
Look out for establishments with these awards.

National Accessible Scheme If you have
particular mobility, visual or hearing needs,
look out for the National Accessible Scheme
logos. Properties and attractions displaying
these symbols will have met the National
Accessible Scheme criteria.
David Bellamy Conservation Awards Awarded to
parks which can demonstrate policies showing
active concern for the environment. Three levels of
excellence can be achieved: Gold, Silver and Bronze.
The Green Tourism Business Scheme
(GTBS) Accredits a range of different types of
accommodation providers on their efforts to
reduce their impact on the environment. The Green
Tourism Business Scheme grading information
