Ladies and Gentlemen,
The merger of FinanzIT and Sparkassen Informatik into Finanz
Informatik was the center of our attention in 2008. As an IT ser-
vice provider, the new company supports all German savings
banks as well as numerous other companies within the Sparkassen
Financial Group. The merger represents another huge
step forward in unifying information technology in the German
financial sector.
At the same time, the move offers substantial potential to
reduce costs. From 2001 up to today, we have achieved savings of
more than €1.5 billion through synergies resulting from the mergers
of former companies. After we have migrated savings banks
in northern and eastern Germany to the comprehensive IT solution
OSPlus by 2012, we expect additional savings of €200 million
annually. With these efforts, Finanz Informatik is making a
significant contribution to lowering the operating costs of our
saving bank customers during the current economic downturn.
At the same time, we continue to expand our service offering to
strengthen our position as a service provider and help our customers
maintain a competitive edge.
