Muncher<br />

65 days — Strong, vigorous vines that prolifically<br />

produce smooth, tender fruits that reach nine<br />

inches in length. Good slicer that does not get<br />

National Pickling<br />

58 days — Fruit are straight, medium green, blackspined,<br />

and average 1¾ by six inches in size. You<br />

Poinsett 76<br />

70 days — Released in 1976. An excellent slicer,<br />

averages 8½ inches long by 2½ inches in diameter<br />

55 days — An old German pickling variety. Fruits<br />

are crunchy, have small bumps and black spines.<br />

Best harvested at about 4 inches. We have<br />

Snow's Fancy Pickling {CNG}<br />

60 days — Harvest at 5 inches and they have a<br />

nice, sweet crunch. Although a pickling variety,<br />

they are great for salads. Keep picking to<br />

Spacemaster 80<br />

60 days — Dwarf plants, resistant to mildew, scab<br />

and mosaic virus. Heavy producer of 8-inch fruit<br />

that are tasty and not bitter.<br />

Straight-8 (aka Straight Eight)<br />

63 days — The vigorous and productive plants<br />

yield dark green, blunt ended, cylindrical, and<br />

55 days — Burpless type, light green, white<br />

spines, 7 to 12 inches long, blocky, sweet, not<br />

bitter, tender flesh, good for slicing or pickling.<br />

West Indian Gherkin (Cucumis anguria) {CNG}<br />

65 days — Small, one inch by two inch oval fruit<br />

look like large burrs on vines with leaves that look<br />

like watermelon plants. Have been used for<br />

centuries to make small pickles and relishes. It is<br />

believed that they originated in Africa then were<br />

taken to the West Indies during the course of the<br />

slave trade. In 1806, it was released commercially<br />

in Bernard McMahon's catalog. Increasingly rare.<br />

60 days — Popular for slicing and pickling. The<br />

fruit is normally 4 to 6 inches long and white<br />

colored. Great flavor and texture.<br />

from Belarus. Fruits are four to five inches long,<br />

Eggplant typically does best in areas that have a<br />

warm and consistent growing season. Its<br />

tomatoes. Start seeds indoors in pots 6 to 8<br />

weeks before your last expected frost date.<br />

Black Beauty<br />

80 days — Dark purple, egg-shaped fruits that are<br />

4 to 6 inches long, are borne well off of the ground,<br />

on medium sized plants.<br />

90 days — Grows very tall, up to 38 inches, and<br />

produce large, purple, bell-shaped fruits. A popular<br />
