A mere adoption of a popular script like
‘Great Expectations’ and making it as a
film, does not do it all. The popularity of that
script even carries a lot of responsibility.
In that lines, Fitoor could not do well. Most
of the emotions in the film are the artistic
kind of nature or to say far from the reality.
That is the reason, one finds it tough to
relate it personally and so tagged Fitoor as
an intellectuals entertainer rather than a
layman’s.
However, Aditya Roy Kapur’s performance
is the only hope for one to turn to the
theaters and again Katrina Kaif is a let
down, for her poorly narrated character.

Neerja
When Neerja was said to be a biopic based
on the real life brave heart ‘Neerja Bhanot’,
several felt Sonam would not suit for such
realistic brave role.
However, the makers still went forward
believing in Masakkali girl and finally, their
confidence was kept up by Sonam, giving
a flawless performance. Being regarded as
the top most movie of Sonam, the success
and appreciations gave a good boost to the
actress to plan several other women based
biopics. If the same trend continues, even
the heroes would have no other option to
concentrate on some male biopics, as they
would find hard to convince an actress to act
beside them as the heroine.

While the comedian turned hero is finding tough
to concrete his position as a hero, Krishnashtami,
being a product from Dil Raju factory, was out into
the theaters with the huge expectations. Several
thought that it would fetch Sunil good and makes
him bounce back in his career, who is facing bad
fortune for quite some time. But unfortunately,
Josh fame Vasu Varma directorial again is a let
down at the box office.
Sunil’s macho looks and energetic performance
were a breathing point of Krishnashtami.
However, that alone could not save the movie
from facing the bad fortune. Though the shooting
of the film was completed long back, the makers
had to wait for a right release date. Finally, with
no big movies nearer to it, Krishnashtami took its
release in February and that is making at least the
buyers of the film get into the safe zone.

Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha might be
the only film, that received a unanimous positive
talk from all over the world after a long time in
Tollywood. Right from the first show itself, along
with the audience, all the reviews declared
the movie to be a super hit. With this film, now
the so called natural star even opened up his
market in the mass areas. The film is doing well
in the ‘C’ centres too, giving a hope to Nani, to
do the mass films with the big makers from now
on.
The well planned screenplay, including healthy
comedy and attractive narration skills, makes
Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha, a sure
watchable.

Fitoor

The first half of
Fitoor has been
decent but not
completely
impressive. Though
the audience get
delighted with the
visuals and poetic
narration, the
pace has been
dead slow.
Story :
Fitoor has been inspired from
Charles Dicken’s novel Great
Expectations. The movie starts
with Noor (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and
Firdaus (Katrina Kaif) during their
childhood days. They bond up with
each other and as they grow up,
their relation gets stronger and
slowly they fall in love with each
other. It is then Begum (Tabu)
opposes their love because of her
dark and painful past. She tries to
get married Firdaus to a politician
in Pakistan. The rest of the movie
is about how Firdaus and Noor
take their love forward
Analysis :
The first half of Fitoor has been
decent but not completely
impressive. Though the audience
get delighted with the visuals and
poetic narration, the pace has
been dead slow. The songs have
been shot well and they have
been placed right. The pre interval
episodes have been shot well and
they bring up the interest but the
complete first half has been just ok.
The second half of the movie falls
badly in every frame. The movie
dips down and gets killed because
of the narration. The plot has
been sidelined completely and the
director surprised the audience as
he failed to bring out the needed
elements in the movie. On the
whole the complete second half is
a debacle.
Final Word:
Fitoor has impressive
performances and stupendous
visuals but the movie fails to
impress because of the slow pace
and deviated narration.

The naturally
narrated
family
drama has
been lovely
and slowly
the focus
moves
towards the
major plot.
Story :
Neerja Bhanot (Sonam Kapoor)
aspires to become an air hostess
or a model and she dreams big.
With great support from her
family, Neerja Bhanot becomes
independent and well matured
in thoughts. Finally she turns air
hostess and it is her big day. The
very first flight takes her to an
unusual incident when a batch of
terrorists hijacks the flight carrying
300 passengers. Neerja struggles
a lot to save the passengers and
the rest of the film is how Neerja
Bhanot saves their lives sacrificing
her life forms the story of Neerja.
Watch the film on silver screen to
completely know about it.
Analysis :
The first half of Neerja has been
well written and it takes some
time to bring an impression on the
characters. The naturally narrated
family drama has been lovely and
slowly the focus moves towards
the major plot. The movie has been
narrated with good pace and it
never comes down throughout. The
director made sure that he added
enough commercial elements. On
the whole the first half of Neerja
has been completely impressive.
The second half of Neerja too
continued the same pace and the
audience stick towards their seats
waiting for the next interesting
episode.
Final Word:
Neerja is a movie that should not
be missed. A great narration with
some stupendous performers on
board makes Neerja a must watch.

Story :
Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema
Gaadha is the story of Krishna
(Nani) who opposes violence who
is quite shy and stays under rated.
He has a cute world and he loves
Mahalakshmi (Mehrene) from his
childhood. But Krishna keeps his
love under the wraps because
of her brother Rama Raju who is
a goon in the town. Time comes
when Krishna will be assigned a
mission. This is the time David
Bhai (Murali Sharma) enters the
country and gets caught by ACP
Ashwin (Sampath Raj). The rest of
the movie is about the mission of
Krishna and his relation with David
Bhai and ACP.
Analysis :
The first half of the movie has
been pleasant with lot of feel and
loads of entertainment. Krishna
Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha
has a very cute untouched love
story which gets connected to
everyone. The character of Krishna
and Mahalakshmi have been
well written which are the major
highlights. The songs have been
placed well and the music has been
melodious. With all the ingredients
mixed well, the first half of Krishna
Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha
makes the audience completely
satisfied.
The second half of the film too
carries the same pace with huge
dose of emotional drama though
the entertainment levels come
down. The action episodes have
been shot well and Nani delivered
out his best for the movie.
Final Word:
Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema
Gaadha is a must watch film
this weekend. Nani’s natural
performance and the flawless
direction make the film sit on the

Kshanam
A perfect and
engaging
thriller which is
worth watching
which will end
up minting
some good
commercial
figures too.
Story :
Kshanam is the story of a baby
girl Riya who goes missing. Her
mother Swetha (Adah Sharma)
searches for the baby in all the
available ways and before she
loses hope she calls up Rishi
(Adivi Sesh) who was once her
boyfriend. Swetha seeks help
of Rishi who flies back to India
from to USA to find her missing
daughter. In this process he
comes to know about many
unusual things about Swetha and
her husband. He starts searching
for Riya and slowly comes out
with a clue after which he gets
another. The rest of the movie is
about finding Riya and if Swetha
really has a daughter called Riya.
Watch Kshanam to know about the
complete story.
Analysis :
Kshanam is an unusual concept
that has been written well, framed
well and projected well with lot of
interest. The audience will stick to
their seats eagerly waiting for the
next twirl that comes as they have
lot to get surprised. The process
of searching a baby girl has been
narrated in an interesting way and
the complete movie has been laced
with loads of human emotions
that touch you. A mother’s pain, a
father’s restlessness and a guy’s
struggle has been told in the best
available way with Kshanam. The
complete first half of Kshanam will
leave you amazed throughout and
the audience get habitual of the
next twirl and they get prepared for
the coming suspence.
Final Word:
Kshanam is sure a lesson for many
mindless pot boilers that we have
seen recently.

The pace in the

Story :
Jayam Ravi plays a traffic cop
in Ooty where he lives with his
baby sister Vidya (Baby Anikha).
Catastrophe arrives in the town
in the form of a sudden outbreak
of a virus attack that proves more
dangerous than expected. What
happens later on? Is there a
way out? Is respite in the offing?
Miruthan deals with all these
answers. Watch the film to know
about it completely.
Analysis :
the director spreading his premise
neatly. There is the brother-sister
sentiment that could work for
emotion-seeking audience although
it is a little difficult to digest a small
girl mouthing age-inappropriate
dialogues.
The pace in the second half gets
a little slower, sometimes, making
one wonder if there would be
a respite at all from the ghastly
happenings on screen. There are
also occasions when Miruthan
takes on the form of hero-building
exercises way too far and it
appears to be a one man army
battling against the hordes of
affected populace.
Final Word:
Miruthan is sure a new experience
for those who have never seen
Hollywood zombie films. A decent
work from Jayam Ravi and Shakthi
Sounder Rajan.

One needs to be very brave to attempt a
concept like Aligarh, which is far from the
commercial, comedy, action and any other
regular form of entertainment, we got used to
watch in the movies.
Aligarh movie is based on the real
life gay professor and author Dr.
Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, who
loses his job, upon the charges of
homosexuality and that leading to
his suspicious death.
As the concept itself is bold,
though the trailer or the movie did
not expose much of homosexual
scenes, the censor board
awarded ‘A’ certificate.
Before the release itself, the
movie has several appreciations,
after it was premiered in the film
festivals – Busan and London.
But as the content of the film is
bold, it is going to witness a ‘No’
sign board in both TVs and also
to children in theatres. But is the
homosexuality, really that vulgar
or something to be objectionable?
Homosexuality
influence on society
With a history and culture, where
gay love and poetry have been
no less than legendary, ironically,
homosexuality is taboo in this
post colonial nation. It is rather a
painful farce to hear conservative
harangues against gay love in the
media and elsewhere.

the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
criminalizes homosexuality
in India. In the present days,
it has become an article of
faith for people of different
religious moralities in India,
in a strange show of colonialminded
solidarity with
backward masters.
If political sovereignty really
means the sovereignty of
thought and existence, India
should stand by its open
culture, embracing all kinds
of sexualities within its ways
of life.

Ramchandra Siras
When, Prof. Shrinivas
Ramchandra Siras was found
dead in his residence on
April 8, 2010, the case has
created a huge controversy.
After getting suspended by
the university, Siras faced
an enormous degree of
intrusion, as his private life
turned into a spectacle for
public consumption.

Six years after Siras
death, now Manoj Bajpai
playing his character and
also speaking out clearly
against criminalizing sexual
preference, is heartening.
Not to the surprise of many,
Aligarh openings have
started on a slow note in
the beginning and as the
mouth talk was found to be
positive, people now started
moving to the theaters. As
expected before, Aligarh
movie could not tackle with
the commercial thing, but
is doing exceptionally well,
with the limited number of
audience.
On the other side, the film is
receiving equal criticism from
a few sections of audiences,
saying that, is destroying
and hurting the human
sentiments.
But whatever be the case,
Aligarh is a thought provoking
film, where at least at a point
of second, while watching the
film, it makes the audience,
question themselves, why
not?

Manoj Bajpayee
Manoj Bajpayee is one of the finest actors we have
in the country. His hunger for innovative roles never
dies. His recent movie Aligarh released recently and is
creating enough buzz all over. Here are the excerpts
of his interview.
AHow excited are you about
Aligarh?
I don’t do any film and every film. So
I am excited about this movie, because
every film becomes very important
to me. And Aligarh is more important
because I am playing a 64 year-oldman
and somebody who's completely
different from the world I have come
from. The film says about the right to
privacy, which is very close to my heart.
Hansal Mehta and me are coming
together after almost 17 years. The
response the film has been getting is
stupendous.

What is the best
compliment you
received about the
movie?
I have been never nervous
about my films but I only
think if I can do justice to the
role assigned. I have been
heaped with compliments all
over after the film’s release
which made me relaxed.
It means that I have done
justice for the character.
Did you feel any
discomfort playing
this role?
No. I'm an actor and I'm not
judgmental about the roles
I play. I was excited by the
journey of this old man and
his fight for the justice. This
character was a challenge
for me and I was excited to
take it up.
What sort of
research have you
done for your role?
You don’t have to go
anywhere to do research any
more. Everything is available
on the internet. I did 15
days of workshop in my own
house. I spent 2-3 days in
Bareilly. I got completely
into Dr Siras’s skin. I was

living his life. People are
appreciating my role so
I'm very happy. This film is

that. It’s leading a movement.
You have worked
with Hansal Mehta
before. What is your
equation with him?
Hansal and I have been
friends for the last 22 years.
We made Dil Pe Mat Le
Yaar together but I knew
him well even before that.
I've done a television serial
with him before. Even today,
we meet 2 – 3 times a week
even if we are not making
a film together. In these
years, Hansal has evolved
tremendously as a director. I
am so proud of his growth.
How was the
experience of
working with
Rajkummar Rao?
I appreciate Rajkummar as
an actor and as a human.
I pray that he continues to
work even better. He should
get full justice and credit and
continue to get work. He is a
very good actor and a gem of
a person.
Which directors
would you like to
work with?
I have worked with quite a
few directors and know many
more even though we’ve not
worked together. Anurag
Kashyap is my favourite. I
love him, admire him and
simply adore him. I’ve known
Imtiaz Ali since many years.
Vishal Bhardwaj is my good
friend. I could not do Haider
because I was busy with
Tevar. I would like to work
with him and Imtiaz.
What are your
upcoming projects?
I have Saat Uchakke up
for release. Missing which
I have co-produced with
Tabu is also coming soon.
Traffic is also an amazing
film. I wonder why it is getting
delayed.
Are you content
with your life?
Not content but happy with
my life. All I want is to keep
on working and get good
assignments throughout my
life.
