General Informati<strong>on</strong><br />
Tipping<br />
Tipping is comm<strong>on</strong> practice in India for a range of services. In restaurants the accepted standard is around<br />
7% to 10% of the bill, although sometimes a service charge will be included. Small notes INR 10 to<br />
INR 30 are a good tip for small tasks.<br />
Credit Cards & Changing M<strong>on</strong>ey<br />
Major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, shops and restaurants. Banking hours vary, but most banks<br />
are open weekdays from 9:00hrs to 16:30hrs. Banks offer the best foreign-exchange rates.<br />
Currency<br />
India’s unit of currency is the Indian Rupee (INR), Banknotes in circulati<strong>on</strong> come in denominati<strong>on</strong>s<br />
of INR 5, INR 10, INR 20, INR 50, INR 100, INR 500 and INR 1000. Rupee coins are available in<br />
denominati<strong>on</strong>s of INR 1, INR 2, INR 5, INR 10.<br />
Shopping<br />
Hyderabad has centuries-old bazaars offering exquisite crafts like bidri and local products such as ittar,<br />
as well as chic boutiques and designer stores. Often called the City of Pearls, Hyderabad is <strong>on</strong>e of the<br />
largest centres of pearl trade in India.<br />
Electrical Current<br />
India uses 230 Volts, 50 Hz alternating current as the power source. Plugs and sockets have either<br />
grounded / earthed 3 Pin c<strong>on</strong>necti<strong>on</strong>s (Type D) or ungrounded 2 pin c<strong>on</strong>necti<strong>on</strong>s (Type C).<br />

Taxis<br />
Taxis are not readily available. For those delegates who choose to avail taxi services may either c<strong>on</strong>tact<br />
the Novotel C<strong>on</strong>cierge or may use local radio/mobile taxi services like Uber or Ola. Their apps are<br />
readily available <strong>on</strong> the App Store and Google Play Store.<br />
Tours<br />
Tours can be booked through the Tours Counter in the registrati<strong>on</strong> area <strong>on</strong> the ground level.<br />
Safety Precauti<strong>on</strong>s<br />
As in most places, it is advisable to take the following precauti<strong>on</strong>s while in Hyderabad<br />
• Do not leave luggage or valuables unattended.<br />
• Use the safety deposit boxes provided by most hotels.<br />
• Carry <strong>on</strong>ly the cash, credit cards, and identificati<strong>on</strong> that you need.<br />
Insurance<br />
The Organizing Committee, ISID and MCI India accept no liability for pers<strong>on</strong>al injuries sustained by<br />
or for loss or damage to property bel<strong>on</strong>ging to <str<strong>on</strong>g>C<strong>on</strong>gress</str<strong>on</strong>g> participants, either during or as a result of the<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>C<strong>on</strong>gress</str<strong>on</strong>g> or during tours. It is therefore recommended that delegates and accompanying pers<strong>on</strong>s arrange<br />
for appropriate travel and health insurance before traveling.<br />
