Workshop Descripti<strong>on</strong>: The workshop will allow participants<br />
to learn and discuss the most recent evidence<br />
from the literature regarding the burden of healthcareassociated<br />
infecti<strong>on</strong>s. Recent informati<strong>on</strong> regarding<br />
hand hygiene promoti<strong>on</strong>, in particular through the<br />
multimodal strategy promoted by the World Health<br />
Organizati<strong>on</strong> (WHO), including caveats for promoti<strong>on</strong>,<br />
disseminati<strong>on</strong>, cultural adaptati<strong>on</strong> and adopti<strong>on</strong><br />
at different levels of resources and commitment will<br />
be presented. M<strong>on</strong>itoring of healthcare instituti<strong>on</strong>s<br />
at large scale level, as well as their promoti<strong>on</strong> and<br />
rewarding of excellence witll be discussed with<br />
c<strong>on</strong>crete examples worldwide.<br />
Target Audience: Physicians, nurses, public health<br />
professi<strong>on</strong>als, whether expert or not in infectious<br />
diseases of infecti<strong>on</strong> c<strong>on</strong>trol, as well as hospital<br />
administrators and ministry of health representatives.<br />
