The R<strong>on</strong>ald Ross Memorial Lecture recognizes the<br />
c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong>s of Dr. R<strong>on</strong>ald Ross in discovering the<br />
mosquito transmissi<strong>on</strong> of malaria. Ross was awarded<br />
the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1902 for his work <strong>on</strong><br />
malaria and he has laid the foundati<strong>on</strong> for successful<br />
research <strong>on</strong> this disease and methods of combating<br />
it. His groundbreaking research was c<strong>on</strong>ducted in<br />
Hyderabad in what is today called the Sir R<strong>on</strong>ald Ross<br />
Institute of Parasitology.<br />
