Wedding Ministry
Last year we had quite a slow year with wedding bookings. Preparing
for marriage five couples and conducting just five wedding services.
One of these weddings was for a couple from our 7pm service with the
rest being community contact couples.
The responsibilities for marriage preparation and services are shared
around between Stephen, Stephen and Scott.
2016 will see a big difference with thirteen weddings already booked
in to our diary.
St Luke’s Village
The partnership with St Luke’s Village has
continued to be strengthened throughout
2015. Philip Brown’s leadership at the Village
has been vital to this. Formally we continue to
run weekly services including a Communion
Service and a hymn-a-long meeting. During
the month of March our mission focus
extended to door knocking independent units/
villas to offer Easter Buns, invitations to events
and offer chaplaincy services.
During Christmas we organised for the young
adult community to sing carols in the village
and give out gifts to the residents (in
partnership with patchwork and cardmaking
groups at DAC).
The real engine room to our village ministry is
the many volunteers who assist in formal
capacities and visit and connect with the many
residents throughout the village. We continue
to build the partnership and synergy between
village and church which has marked our
parish for so long.
With Scott leaving the parish in early 2016, the
Rev. Rick Miller will assume responsibility for
coordinating chaplaincy.
