Sunday’s game against
Newcastle will give Lee
Greenwood’s side the perfect
opportunity to bounce back
after Good Friday’s home
defeat against Coventry. The
All Golds Head Coach was
critical of his squad after that
game and will be hoping to
see a reaction on Sunday.
“We weren’t good enough
last time out, simple as that.
In a way that loss might have
done us some good, if we’d
have got away with it, we’d
have got away with the other
79 minutes which wasn’t
acceptable.”
The home side will be looking
to replicate their form of
the previous round where
they comfortably saw off
Coventry Bears. The form
since has been patchy - spells
of attacking brilliance but too
many mistakes in defence
that have cost them dear. “
Defensively we need to get
better. A lot of it is attitude and
we need to cut down on giving
away cheap penalties”, said
Greenwood.
The All Golds’ Coach is still
without a host of forwards
although he’ll be pleased that
Irish international Graham
O’Keeffe was back in full
contact training this week.
Richard Jones’ recovery
from injury has taken a step
forward and the former
Keighley man hopes to play
for the development squad
on Saturday. Aaron Lyons and
James Walter are still ‘three or
four weeks away’, according
to Greenwood. Jonny Leather
and Jamie Murphy, who missed
the game against Coventry,
will be hoping to feature this
Sunday as will Almer Tagayuna
