For the second time, Alex
Davidson’s CLS squad stood
up to a physical battering to
put up an impressive display
that gives optimism for the
season ahead.
Though beaten on the
scoreboard, there were plenty
of things to admire not least
the way the team came back
from an early 14-0 deficit to
trail by just two at the break.
Tries from Sgt Kimi Vuadrau,
Cpl Lewis Allen and LCpl
Matuwalu Sorovakatini and a
goal from Pte Liam Johnson
in the opening quarter had
the Royal Logistic Corps in
charge of the game but the
All Golds battled back, earned
parity in the arm wrestle and
two tries from Dieter Thomas
converted by halfback partner
Archie Gibbs left the half time
score 14-12.
owing much to sheer size and
strength.
The All Golds had the last
word through captain Chris
True who went over after neat
work from Thomas and Gibbs
gave him the opportunity.
Following the final whistle,
the RLC formed a circle and
performed a melodic victory
song in the style of the Fijian
2013 World Cup squad.
Having seen 23 players in
action in the games against
the RLC and Cardiff City,
Davidson has plenty of food
for thought as he ponders
his selection for the opening
Conference League South
game this weekend against
Coventry Bears Reserves.
