Cloë tells us about
her love of vintage
How did you get into Vintage?
I’ve always been into vintage. When I
was little my mum took me charity shopping
and that’s how it started.
What is your favourite era?
I think my favourite is 70’s. I’m a big fan
of the bohemian look and flares and patterns
and that sort of thing, yeah *laughs*.
Who do you take the biggest inspiration
from?
I wouldn’t say a particular person, I just
really like the 70’s look but I guess someone
like Stevie Nicks is pretty cool, someone
like her.
What is the best thing about working in
Vintage Retail?
It’s always nice when you get a delivery
in and you get to have a rummage through
the clothes and you get to feel the clothes,
that’s always good. It’s very laid back here
and I work with a really good group of
people.
What is your best vintage purchase?
I’ve got so many. Recently
actually I went to an Oxfam in Harrogate
and upstairs they’ve got a specialist vintage
selection and I got a really beautiful, like,
Indian embroidered Kaftan with beautiful,
gold embroidered onto it. That was a really
good buy, it was only like £20.

In your opinion, what is the worst
vintage led trend?
I don’t think there’s a worst vintage
trend, it’s just personal preference. For me
personally, I’ve never been a fan of the 80’s.
It’s just, some of it is quite garish but like I
said, it’s just personal preference.
Do you think Leeds has a good vintage
carry on?
Yeah, we’ve got a few good shops
definitely, it’d be nice if there was some
more and maybe more charity shops would
be good but we’ve got a nice selection to go
around, yeah.
Incorporating vintage into your
wardrobe is a lot easier than you think.
Whether you’re into skirts and dresses

vintage with celebrities from Alexa Chung
to Harry Styles being connoisseur’s of
hunting out the best vintage whilst they
jet around the world. However, for you
guys sat reading this in rainy Leeds, don’t
worry, there is something there for you!
Stripes never go out of style and always
add an efortless, Parisian spin to a simple
jeans and boots or skirts and flats combo,
as Alexa knows well, with it pretty much
being her uniform (above).
However, you might be into florals, a
big trend for 2016.Teamed with a leather
