Rola Wala
Trinity Kitchen, Trinity Shopping Centre
Leeds, LS1 5AY
An Indian street food restaurant located in Leeds Trinity shopping
centre. Two options are offered between a roll or a bowl with different
fillings to choose from, offering a vegan or vegetarian alternative to
the meat. Every meal is full of flavour and very fillings and extremely
healthy with every option if under 500 calories.
You can see the food being made in front of you, so they easily cater
for your choices if you want more or less, everything is optional.
Pick a roll or a bowl: if you have a bowl you have a choice of rice
and then move on to picking your meat (or meat alternative) with a
choice of salad and extra toppings such as sauces, cheese or coconut.
It’s very affordable and quick, costing you no more than £10 for a
full meal with drink included. Great for a mid-shop pick me up.
At Rola Wala I chose a bowl with brown rice topped with chicken
tikka and sweet potato & lentil Gobi dressed with natural plain yoghurt
and mild mango sauce with a touch of lemon. It was just a burst of
flavour with a nice added kick too it. Very filling and lasted me a good
few hours before I felt peckish again.
Meal cost: £8.98
boats a great
looking ‘Street
Burger’
This lovely and lively restaurant is labelled as a Caribbean social
restaurant. Turtle bay offer a wide range of foods including pulled
pork or even a nice selection of side dishes.
However, they specialise in One Pots which can be described as
’rich, slowly simmered & uniquely Caribbean’. They are a hotpot
mixture, with seven different combinations.
Wonderful and polite service, being greeted at the door and shown
to a table fairly quickly. The whole place has a really warm feel in
addition to a really quirky and vibrant layout with fun music to listen
too. Such a fun place to meet up with friends on the weekend!
I had the Street burger which consists of a season beefed burger
with pulled jerk pork sweet onion chutney, herb mayo, Caribbean slaw
with a side of Chips. It was flavour filled and meaty with added spice
but not too over powering with crisp freshly cooked chips.
Meal cost: £8.99
Zizzi
The Light
Leeds, LS1 8TL
A classic Italian restaurant with delicious affordable food. A fairly
popular restaurant chain with brands in many areas all over the UK.
Everything is traditional and fully Italian from the mouth-watering
pizza to the wonderful pasta dishes.
No matter what you get it is full of flavour and a wide selection of
vibrant drinks.
The kitchen can be seen from the seating area and can be quite
entertaining to watch.
A very good point about this establishment is that it’s rare you have to
wait more than twenty minutes for your food to arrive. Staff members
are very polite and helpful within the restaurant.
I had the calzone carne piccante with contained Spicy piccante
chicken, mini beef meatballs, mozzarella, mushroom, chilli, tomatoes
and Bolognese.
It was delicious and rich and very generous in portion size, lovely
for a nice relaxed meal after a busy week.
Meal Cost: £12.89
