Im Dreiländereck 

Kärnten ist Österreichs südlichstes Bundesland und liegt mitten im 

Alpen-Adria-Raum. Es erstreckt sich auf 9.536 km 2 südlich des Alpenhauptkammes 

und grenzt an Slowenien und Italien. Die ca. 560.000 EinwohnerInnen 

sind Menschen mit mediterranem Lebensgefühl. 

Lebensqualität zwischen Alpen und Adria 

Kärnten gilt als Land der Berge und Seen: 93 seiner Berggipfel sind über 3.000 Meter 

hoch, der Großglockner ist mit 3.798 Meter der höchste Berg Österreichs. Mit 200 

Badeseen, 8.000 Flusskilometer, 60 Heilquellen und 43 Süßwasser speichernden 

Gletschern ist Kärnten auch das wasserreichste Bundesland. Die Nähe zum Mittelmeer 

und die grün-silberne Bergkulisse machen Kärnten zudem zum Herzen der 

Alpen-Adria-Region.

Carinthia is Austria’s southernmost province and lies at the centre of the Alps- 

Adriatic region. It covers 9,536 km² to the south of the Alp’s main ridge and shares 

borders with Slovenia and Italy. The roughly 560,000 inhabitants have a noticeably 

Mediterranean attitude towards life.

Carinthia is known as the province of mountains and lakes: 93 of its mountain summits 

are over 3,000 metres high and, standing at 3,798 metres, the Grossglockner is 

the highest mountain in Austria. With 200 bathing lakes, 8,000 kilometres of rivers, 

60 healing springs and 43 glaciers that store fresh water, Carinthia is also the province 

with the most water. The proximity to the Mediterranean and the green/silver 

mountain scenery make Carinthia the heart of the Alps-Adriatic region.
