On the process, we’ve established a
monotonous routine of filling the hollow
blocks with the mixture, closing it off with
another pile of mixture and placing
another block accurately situated in with
the stock of blocks underneath it. This
part of the work has been the least
strenuous of all the task we’ve been given.
Given the loud chatter on the scene, you
could see the noticeable camaraderie going
on within the group. The stench of desire
to help is still pertinent.
But what came as a shock was the
individualistic inclination of each group. It
has been too evident. Most groups kept to
themselves and talked amongst
themselves. I supposed maybe it was
because everyone was busy focusing on
the assignment given to us. Even though
there is that, I am happy that the
unwavering happiness seen on the faces of
each member of our section in helping was
overwhelming. It was as if everyone made
it their goal that day to give their best in
finishing what we came to do.
At near noon, we were given the time
to rest and eat. After the arduous task we
were given, we were more than pleased to
get on with our drinks to quench our
thirsts and to devour our packed lunches
as the tiring chore made us ravenous. A
few moments after we’ve finished eating,
we were all wondering if we should change
clothes since we were all sweating like pigs
under the labor a while ago. But we were
taken aback when our facilitator
announced that we will only have a few
more minutes to rest and pack up before
we get onto the bus and go back home. So
after whining for a bit, we’ve decided to ask
some of the people who lives there about
their lives within the community before we
leave.
What the people have said about the
efforts of the university in their community
was truly moving. While having the
interview, you can see how grateful those
people are for the help we could give and
after they have disclosed touching insights
about their thoughts about our works,
we’ve truly known that what we did was
genuinely worth it. charities we do solidify
our aspiration to aid students to have
more conducive infrastructures and it
reinforces our mission to help those who
are in need. This is what binds us to the
very goal of our program, to give service to
the needy. This fulfills our duties as
compassionate, competent and committed
true-blooded Thomasians.
