Philippines is a calamity prone country, it is the pathway of most typhoons
forming from the Pacific Ocean. It is also located in the Pacific ring of fire,
with these it is expected that we are prone to earthquakes and volcanic
eruptions, and because Philippines also is an archipelago, these also leads
to tsunamis and storm surges. With these phenomena it is necessary for
everyone to know how to cope with and to do before, during and after in
order to keep at most safety during these disasters.
Typhoons are common visitors as we the neighbor of the Pacific Ocean
where typhoons generate. Approximately twenty typhoons pass through the
Philippines every year, leaving millions of worth of damage in properties and
of casualties. Typhoons not just with the strong winds creating storm
surges which affect those coastal areas, but with heavy rain causing flood to
the low lying areas and landslides to the mountains, no location is
exempted to its destruction. Because typhoons are detectable we could
prepare ahead of time to lessen further damages both in life and properties.
In order to do that, information dissemination for every one about what to
do during calamities like such.
No one knows when earthquakes strike. No technology has the capacity to
predict where and when will it come, it also is undetectable. Earthquakes
could be caused by the moving of the plates under the earth or could be by
volcanic eruption. During an earthquake apply the dock, cover and hold
method, keep your heads covered, after the shaking go to an open area free
from falling debris. Those near the coastal area, observe if there is drastic
changes in sea level, if these occur evacuate immediately.
