THE AIMST UNIVERSITY
The 17 th August, 2008 was a very special
day for the AIMST University. Because, on
August 17, 2008, YAB Dato’ Seri Abdullah
Haji Ahmad Badawi, the then Prime Minister
of Malaysia officiated the AIMST University’s
new and permanent campus at Semeling,
Kedah.
After jubilant opening ceremony of the new
and permanent campus, AIMST University
was poised to celebrate its very special and
important inaugural convocation which
was held on 17 th October 2008. In this
Inaugural Convocation, AIMST University
proclaimed YBhg.Dato’ Seri S.Samy \/ellu as
the Chancellor of the university.
In the new campus, space was not an issue
and each faculty and or school was growing
rapidly. In 2009, ‘Paediatric Dentistry Clinic’
and ‘Orthodontics Clinic’ were opened in
the university’s Dental Centre for patient
care and clinical teaching purpose. In year
2010, the Faculty of Pharmacy (FoP) received
the ’Certificate of Accreditation’ from the
Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) to
run the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) degree
programme. In addition to it, FoP also
received a certificate of recognition from the
Pharmacy Board of Malaysia.
Students are the real angels of the university;
in 2010, AIMST University was really proud
when the first cohort of medical graduates
(Batch 1) joined the Ministry of Health as
Medical Officers. In 2010, the first cohort
of students from ‘Faculty of Dentistry (FoD)’
and ‘School of Physiotherapy’ were also
graduated.
A meaningful and smart partnership is very
important for each and every ‘institution
of higher learning (IHL)’ in order to flourish
and make a recognizable impact in society
and education Industry. AIMST University
established a meaningful collaborations
with several academic and non-academic
institutions including various local and
international Biotechnology based companies
and business schools. In this line, in 2011,
the 1 st batch of AIMST business students
was sent to Bordeaux Management School
Bordeaux Management School (BEM), France
under student mobility programme of the
AIMST University.
In 2011, the Faculty of Business and
Management registered the first batch of
students for its newly started MBA Healthcare
Programme; Faculty of Medicine officially
launched various MSc degree programmes
such as MSc in Human Anatomy, Medical
Physiology, Medical Biochemistry and
Medical Microbiology after provisional
accreditation by Ministry of Higher
Education and Malaysian Qualifications
Agency, (MQA), Malaysia. In order to make
students competent enough, university does
continual improvement of the curriculum.

was the first private university to adapt and
adopt the Biotechnology Entrepreneurship
