<strong>Boeing</strong> rolls out the 1,000th 767 airplane at the Everett, Wash., factory.<br />

<strong>Boeing</strong> submits its final proposal for the U.S. Air Force’s KC-X tanker competition, offering a fleet of<br />

<strong>Boeing</strong> NewGen Tankers — 767-based, multimission aircraft.<br />

Thousands gather in Everett, Wash., for the unveiling of the new 747-8 Intercontinental.<br />

The U.S. Air Force awards <strong>Boeing</strong> a contract to build the next-generation aerial refueling tanker aircraft<br />

that will replace 179 of the service’s 400 KC-135 tankers.<br />

<strong>Boeing</strong> begins final assembly of the first U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon production aircraft in the company’s<br />

Renton, Wash., factory.<br />

The 747-8 Intercontinental successfully completes its first flight, taking off from Paine Field in Everett<br />

with 747 Chief Pilot Mark Feuerstein and Capt. Paul Stemer at the controls.<br />

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency names <strong>Boeing</strong> an ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for its<br />

ongoing commitment to protecting the environment through energy efficiency.<br />

<strong>Boeing</strong> and Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) celebrate the opening of a new factory that<br />

doubles the footprint of their joint venture, <strong>Boeing</strong> Tianjin Composites Co. Ltd. Company employment<br />

will rise from 700 to more than 1,000 by 2013.<br />

The <strong>Boeing</strong> Phantom Ray unmanned airborne system successfully completes its first flight at NASA’s<br />

Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. Phantom Ray flies to 7,500 feet (2286<br />

meters) and reaches a speed of 178 knots (204 mph, 329 kph).<br />

The Space Shuttle makes its final launch.<br />

<strong>Boeing</strong> delivers the first of six C-17 Globemaster III airlifters to the United Arab Emirates Air Force and<br />

Air Defense.<br />

A ribbon-cutting ceremony marks the opening of the new 787 Dreamliner Final Assembly building in<br />
