The <strong>Boeing</strong> 777 Freighter is launched, following an order from Air France for five 777 Freighters,<br />

with options for three additional airplanes.<br />

The first Italian Air Force KC-767A advanced aerial refueling tanker makes its first flight across the<br />

hundreds of miles away, to successfully demonstrate boost phase performance. <strong>Boeing</strong>, DARPA<br />

and the Office of Naval Research are working on HyFly’s design, development and testing.<br />

The U.S. Air Force takes delivery of the first production CV-22 Osprey, the Air Force Special Operations<br />

variant of the V-22 .<br />
