STAY INDEPENDENT Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) Provides paid work experience at non-profit and government agencies to low income individuals ages 55 and older. By the numbers: 1143 trainees enrolled in part-time work experience 5515 older adults were served in our resource room training hours provided to job seekers 13706 1000 4000 8000 12000 16000 18000 Community Impact: By participating in training programs and SCSEP, older adults can serve in nonprofits, government agencies, and other community groups in various capacities. This provides not only an economic benefit of employment, but social benefits as well, providing an innovative strategy for engaging older professionals to help support community assets. In 2015, 171 adults in the SCSEP program found work, while 685,042 hours of community service were provided to non-profits. Danny Williams’ Story Danny Williams My company gave me an early retirement because I was unable to work due to an illness. I joined a Vietnam veterans’ employment program and some of the veterans talked about Mature Services. I contacted the agency and was placed in the SCSEP program. I worked part-time at the front desk in the lobby and my favorite thing to do was meeting and greeting people. My experience with Mature Services and their workforce development program helped me get a job through networking and I felt good about myself. I was encouraged to apply to PSI Solutions, where I was hired as a test monitor. I administer tests to PGA golfers, brokers, and sales representatives. It’s a wonderful way to meet people and I’m grateful we have Mature Services to help people find new jobs. 9.
STAY INDEPENDENT Job Club By offering older job seekers this complimentary three week intensive course, participants learn how to use today’s technology to identify opportunities that will be a perfect match for their unique skill sets. Developing new skills improves confidence, communication skills and future job success. By the numbers: of job club alumni placed in employment 95 job club participants 135 25 50 75 100 125 150 Community Impact: Improving upon interviewing and computer skills provides for the availability of a more skilled workforce to our communities. The improvement in skill sets generates more job offers with higher wages and provides for improvements in economic development and better search outcomes. 10.
