CEO STATEMENT
My name is Karen Hrdlicka and I am the new President/CEO of Mature
Services. I am joining the organization as it celebrates its 40th anniversary
and I feel very privileged to be leading the organization into a new decade.
I have made a career of serving older adults in a variety of roles and I love
the heart of Mature Services for the older adult and the community at large.
Speaking of hearts, in September we started the “Mature Services
Senior Love Endowment Fund” at the Akron Community Foundation.
We hope you will consider supporting our inaugural year campaign by
donating at www.akroncf.org/give/MatureServicesFund.
As I have spent my first six months getting to know the agency, I am truly
amazed at how Mature Services is woven into the lives of the clients we serve.
This became a theme in my mind as we prepared for this annual report.
In researching a definition of woven fabrics, I found a good one on
www.textileschool.com. It says, “Woven fabrics are made by using two or
more sets of yarn interlaced at right angles to each other. Much variety is
produced by weaving. Woven fabrics are generally more durable. They can
be easily cut into different shapes and are excellent for producing styles
in garments.”
I hope you will see the parallel as you read about some of the people woven
into Mature Services as part of this annual report. Mature Services weaves
our services together to empower our clients, thus improving their lives.
Our services, much like fabric, can be cut into a variety of different shapes
to fit the needs of our clients.
Respectfully,
Karen Hrdlicka
