WHAT DO YOU BUILD
YOUR DAILY LOOK
AROUND? WHEN DO YOU
DRESS YOUR BEST?
I’m really lazy. I walk into
my closet to scan my things
and it takes 25 seconds to
come up with an outfit. If I
am not in front of people, I
WE NOTICE THAT YOU
TRAVEL QUITE A BIT.
WHAT DO YOU PICK UP
FROM THESE UNIQUE
PLACES? WHAT WOULD
YOU SAY IS THE MOST
STYLISH CITY THAT YOU
HAVE BEEN TO?
Traveling to places like
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR
FAVORITE TREND
THROUGHOUT YOUR
LIFE? HOW HAS YOUR
STYLE TRANSFORMED?
I was always a wannabe
skate kid. I was always really
inspired by that late
seventies skate world. We
WHAT ARE YOUR
THOUGHTS ON THE
MILLENNIALS AND OUR
FASHION TRENDS?
I think everything is fascinating
right now in terms
of trends. Because of the
internet you can see everything
at any given moment.
get comfortable with wear-
Italy, India, Mexico and
are talking blue vans, blue
I find it fascinating because
ing the same things. My
jean and my t-shirt will be
worn to about four or five
straight days. It gets really
conferrable for me. Being
in Santa Fe, I don’t sweat
and smell the same way because
it is so dry. I can actually
wear things that will
get dirty but not smelly. It
tends to be the actual material
that I feel like wearing
on that day. There is certain
times I like to wear linen
but I love wearing t-shirts
because they are very casual.
When I was teaching, it
the US you pick up pattern.
Cultures have different
approaches to pattern
making and different
combinations of patterns.
Indians have the most
amazing ability to put together
about four different
patterns. That is just
incredible to me. Europe
in particular, people are
stunning everywhere. They
understand proportion in
Italy. Not just their clothing
but even the size of
their handbag in propor-
jeans and a white Hanes
t-shirt. I have alway felt
comfortable in that and
there was a period in the
early two-thousands when
everyone where rocking
graphic tees all of the time.
A graphic designer can get
a job at some place or at
some point just making
t-shirt graphics. For a good
couple of years my uniform
was just seventies Levis,
white Hanes and blue
vans partially because everything
was to big for me.
it sped up the collage mentality
really fast. You have
trends now in the fashion
industry that are fast paced
and you have people making
things when they want
to make it with all of these
resources. We are burning
through all of our references
but still some things
will stay. It is those things
that are starting to linger
around that is interesting to
me and it doesn’t seem like
people are judging. It seems
now that whatever feels
was really nice dressing up
tion to the type of cloth-
genuine to the person be-
for those who appreciated
it. I like getting dressed for
class because it really sets
the tone compared to having
a tie and jacket. I’m
never uncomfortable being
super casual in a non-casual
environment. I am not one
of those people who think
ing they’re wearing or how
many rings they’re wearing
in relationship to their
belt. They get it all. Now,
we are not talking about
just models and high-end
fashionistas but the average
person on the street.
comes relatively adaptable
and acceptable by others.
style is inappropriate. I
mean, you can wear a ripped
t-shirt to the grammy’s and
it’ll still look appropriate.
