Details of Karnataka 

cast census may be made 

public by the end of June. 

Social welfare minister 

H Anjaneya told reports 

thatthe compilation of the 

census details is in full 

swing and that it will be 

completed in the next fifteen 

or twenty days. He is 

learned to have said that 

the final report of the social, 

economic and census 

will be out by 30th of June. 

The cast census by Siddharamaiah

Truck runs over 

five women 

A truck ran over five 

women, including a 

12-year-old girl, after hitting 

a roadside tree at Kaalimatha 

Cross in Doddabelavangala,

accident. The victims were 

walking back home after

Bengaluru: Youth arrested for sexually 

molesting 2 minor girls

A 20 year old youth named Prakash 

allegedly molested two minor girls 

in the city. The girls are of 6 and 7 

ages respectively. The girls were 

playing in their backyard while the 

unemployed youth allegedly misbehaved 

with them. After the warning 

of the neighbours he left the spot. 

But the parents came to know about 

it once the girls started complaining 

about pain in the abdomen. The parents 

initially hesitated to approach 

the police but later filed a complaint 

against the youth. When contacted 

the officials denied the incident.

on November 14, 1889, in 

Allahabad, India. In 1919,

independence movement. 

Nehru complained of pain

from Dehradun on 26th 

may. He spoke to the doctors 

who attended on him 

for a brief while and almost 

immediately Nehru 

collapsed. He remained 

unconscious until he died. 

His death was announced 

to Lok Sabha at 14:00 local 

time on 27 May 1964,

was seized and arrested 

five traffickers in

The drug, which originated 

in Myanmar, 

was being transported 

from Manipur to north 

India in an SUV . the 

drug that was seized 

was worth about 20 

crore in the international 

market.. Possibly, 

the largest haul by 

the Delhi police. The 

seized drug, cultivated 

in the militancy-affected 

areas of Manipur, 

was smuggled into the 

Capital from Bareilly. 

The vehicle that was 

bought was specially 

modified and had dozens 

cavities in the roof, 

seats and floor where 

the drug was hidden. 

Those arrested, Nandram 

alias Master, 55, 

Mangli Ram, 32, Umesh 

Saini, 50, Rakesh Gupta, 

50, and Chanderpal, 

50, are all natives of 

Bareilly. Nandram and 

Mangli were arrested 

on Tuesday with SUV 

from which 105 kgs of 

opium were recovered. 

Police officers believe

from Bareilly 

due to its central location 

and proximity to

drugs.

such seizure of opium 

by the special cell 

within a fortnight. In

Saudi man shoots doctor for assisting 

his wife’s delivery 

Dubai, May 26 (PTI) An unidentified Saudi man 

shot and injured a male gynecologist who helped 

his wife deliver a baby at the King Fahad hospital 

in the Kingdoms capital Riyadh. 

An male doctor was shot by an unidentified 

man. The victim was admitted in the King Fahad 

Hospital in the kingdoms capital Riyadh. 

The media source reports that the man came to 

visit the doctor in the hospital campus. He wanted 

to thank the doctor for helping his wife with 

the delivery of the baby. The doctor met him in the 

garden of the Hospital. As they were speaking the 

man took the gun and shot him.

Govt to auction 70k cr 

worth reserves of oil

Oil minister DharmendraPradhan 

on Wednesday launched the 

auction of 67 small oil and gas inventories, 

clubbed into 46 fields, to 

unlock 30 million tonnes of hydrocarbon 

treasure worth Rs 70,000 

crore as part of the government’s 

efforts to reduce India’s import dependence 

by 10% by 2022. 

This is the first oilfield sale under 

a transparent, straight-forward 

revenue-sharing fiscal model 

instead of the production-sharing 

regime in vogue till now. As an 

icing, the discoveries are being 

offered without any marketing or 

pricing restriction on explorers — 

an issue that had inhibited investors 

and dogged several contracts 

for fields auctioned till now under 

the profit-sharing dominion. 

The government had in September 

last year decided to move away 

from production-sharing model to 

make it simpler for explorers to do 

business. It subsequently extended 

the fiscal model for auctioning 

“Bad loans in the banking 

system were likely to 

grow over current levels, 

and, in addition, there 

might be serious weaknesses 

in the shadow 

banking system, which 

could feed back to banks,” 

the RBI summarized Rajan 

as saying on China. 

“Both could be significant 

downside risks as 

they could have second 

round effects for Saarc 

economies. Chinese 

growth would depend 

not just on its policies, 

but also on growth elsewhere 

in the world.” 

A “sharp” slowdown of 

the Chinese economy “still 

remained a significant 

risk for the global economy 

and the Saarc region,” 

Rajan added, according 

to the RBI. The RBI governor 

had previously 

warned of the potential 

spillover effect from China’s 

economy to other 

countries, including India.

had been made between five and 

30 years back. The auction comes 

at a time when global oil and gas 

prices have plunged, forcing explorers 

to cut back on capital expenditure. 

But AtanuChakraborty, who 

took over as the head of Directorate 

General of Hydrocarbons, 

which acts as the sectoral regulator, 

said it was the ideal time to 

offer the auction as it would take 

about three years to start production, 

by which time oil and gas 

prices are projected to soar up.

Bankruptcy law positive for banks 

in India: Moody’s 

Global credit rating agency 

Moody’s Investors Service on Thursday 

stated that India’s bankruptcy 

code boosts creditors bargaining 

power against big borrowers. 

On May 11, Parliament passed the 

national bankruptcy law, the Insolvency 

and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, 

which is now pending the President’s 

signature. 

“The current weak legal framework 

for asset resolution has been 

a key structural credit weakness for 

Indian banks,” SrikanthVadlamani, 

vice president and senior credit officer 

at Moody’s. 

“The proposed new rules address 

several key inefficiencies in the current 

resolution regime,” he said in 

his report `Banks-India: Bankruptcy 

Law is Credit Positive for Indian 

Banks, but Challenges Remain’. 

According to the report, the proposed 

bankruptcy law would; introduce 

a unified framework to replace 

the current collection of separate 

laws drafted in piecemeal fashion 

across overlapping jurisdictions; 

reduce threshold for creditors to 

invoke the insolvency resolution 

process (IRP); introduce third-party 

insolvency professionals (IP) as 

intermediaries to oversee the IRP, 

replacing the debtor’s existing management 

and operate the company 

as a going concern upon initiation 

of an IRP; give creditors overriding 

authority to approve terms of any 

restructuring package; and limit 

duration of IRP to maximum of 270 

days, after which a company will be 

automatically liquidated. 

These features are positive for 

Indian banks because they will act 

as an incentive for corporate borrowers 

to avoid loan default and 

improve the recovery of assets, the 

report said. In addition to increasing 

banks’ influence over the restructuring 

process, the mandated replacement 

of the existing management 

during the process should act as a 

key disincentive for debtors to default 

in the first place. Moreover, the 

limited timeframe strengthens the 

banks’ bargaining power over delinquent 

borrowers. 

However, Moody’s also said significant 

infrastructure restrictions 

have to be negotiated for the framework

Here are few simple recipes you can try at home 

BROCCOLI PASTA 

Ingredients 

1 cup boiled penne 

2tsp chopped garlic 

½ tsp. chopped red chillies 

¼ cup broccoli 

½ tbsp. grated parmesan cheese 

Salt and pepper to taste 

Oil 

Method 

Heat oil in a pan and sauté the garlic. 

Add red chillies. Season with salt and pepper. 

Add broccoli and cook for two minutes. 

Add boiled Pasta followed by parmesan cheese. 

Cook for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot. 

BROCCOLI SOUP 

Broccoli soup is another 

creamy and tasty soup 

that is definitely worth 

trying. 

Ingredients 

Broccoli-3 cups chopped 

Onion -1 roughly chopped 

Capsicum-1 

Garlic-3-4 cloves 

Olive oil-1tbsp 

All purposeflour-1 tbsp. 

Pepper powder-1tsp 

Salt to taste 

Fresh cream-2-3tbsp 

Water/chicken stock/vegetable 

stock-3 cups 

Method 

Heat the olive oil in a pan 

and add onions, garlic, 

capsicum and broccoli. 

Sauté for a minute and add 

the flour. Sauté for another 

minute. 

Add 1 cup of water or 

stock and cook for about 

10 minutes. 

Turn off the flame and 

cool this for a while and 

blend it to make a puree 

Return the Pureed mixture 

back to the soup pot. 

Add the remaining stock 

or water and heat it. 

Add salt, pepper powder 

Finally add the cream and 

turn off. Broccoli soup is 

ready to be served 

BROCCOLI AND CHEESE TOAST 

Broccoli with Grilled 

cheese- is the best way to 

eat broccoli! 

Ingredients 

1 medium broccoli, 

chopped finely 

2 tbsp. olive oil 

¼ tsp. freshly cracked 

black pepper 

Unsalted butter, softened 

6 to8 slices of bread 

1 cup cheddar cheese, 

shredded 

Salt to taste 

Method 

Preheat the oven to 400 

degrees 

On a baking tray, mix the 

broccoli, oil, salt and pepper. 

Toss for 8 to 10 minutes, 

or until the broccoli 

is evenly roasted but not 

burnt. Remove from the 

oven and allow to cool. 

On a baking tray spread 

butter evenly on one side of 

each slice of bread. Dividing 

the ingredients evenly, 

layer cheese on the unbuttered 

side of the bread 

slices, 

then add 

chopped 

broccoli 

in the

“U-TURN” star Shraddha 

lands on Kollywood shores 

Shraddha Srinath, who surprised us all with her flawless 

performance in Pawan Kumar’s latest Kannada 

thriller U-Turn, will be seen alongside Nivin Pauly in his 

next Tamil film. It is slated to go on floors next month. 

Debutant director Gautham Ramachandran, after 

months of auditioning, zeroed in on Shraddha, as he felt 

she was apposite for the role of a crime reporter in the 

film. The tamil film is based on critically acclaimed Rakshit 

Shetty directed Ulidavaru Kandanthe. 

“Shraddha was one of the first girls I met during the 

auditions. Although I felt she seemed perfect for the role, 

we decided to audition a few more girls. Over the course 

of nearly five months, we auditioned several girls but nobody 

fit the role as convincingly as Shraddha,” Gautham, 

former assistant of filmmakers Mysskin and Rajeev Menon, 

told IANS. 

“The second time we met Shraddha; she came well 

prepared and had even memorised her lines. In the second 

audition, she just proved she was destined to do the 

role and we were convinced too,” he said. 

The film’s producers weren’t initially enthusiastic 

about the idea. 

“They wanted a familiar heroine and a few wellknown 

actresses were also interested to be part of the 

project. As a team when we saw Shraddha audition the 

second time, we were convinced she’d be ideal for the 

role. Nivin was very supportive with my decision.” 

Shraddha, a lawyer by profession, has already worked 

in two Kannada films and a Malayalam film prior to this. 

It is with U-Turn she stole the limelight and has caught 

the attention of filmmakers. 

According to sources, the rest of the cast is being 

finalised.
