Actor Jimmy Shergil,
who has managed to
carve a niche for himself
in Bollywood with variety
of roles, says it was
a “conscious decision”
not repeating himself in
‘chocolate-boy roles’.
It was a conscious decision
to not to go back
to chocolate boy roles. I
don’t want to get stuck
to any image,” Jimmy
told the media.
“I am glad I did that
(not stuck to one kind of
role) as I got the opportunity
to do something
different like ‘Haasil’,
‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, ‘A
Wednesday’ and others.
These roles got me
lot of appreciation,” he
said.
The “Special 26”
star says if he gets to
do “meaty role” in a
multi-starrer project,
length of the character
does not bother him
much.
“I do solo films as
well. But if I am getting
to play meaty roles in
an ensemble film then
why not do it. I want
to do good memorable
roles I don’t look at the
length of the character,”
the 45-year-old actor
said.
“Whatever I am today
it is because of the film
industry.
I have no regrets. I
take it as a compliment
when people ask me if I
have got my due or not.”
Jimmy says he is
grateful for all the love
and support that he has
got from the industry.
“I don’t think there is
any formula. I have always
been honest to my
work. It’s my conscious
decision to not get slotted
in one kind of image,”
he said.
Jimmy will be next
seen in playing a politician
in “Shorgul” and is
quite excited about the
film.
“It is a fictitious
character. The film is
inspired from lot of incidents
that has happened
in our society.”
The upcoming political
thriller drama is
directed by Pranav Kumar
Singh and Jitendra
Tiwari.
It is reportedly loosely
based on 2013 Muzaffarnagar
riots.
“The story is very appealing...it
was something
I had not done before.
It’s an interesting
love story and politics
is the backdrop of it,” he
said.
Starring Jimmy,
Ashutosh Rana, Suha
Gezen, Narendra Jha,
Anirudh Dave and Sanjay
Suri in lead roles,
the film is set to release
on June 24.
VIKRAM PRABHU’S ‘VEERA SIVAJI’ WRAPPED UP
Vikram Prabhu’s
Veera Sivaji has
wrapped up its final
schedule, the post production
works have
already begun and
the teaser is likely to
be out soon. The first
look poster, which has
Vikram Prabhu and
Shamili riding a car in
adventurous mode, has
already created a buzz.
In the film, Vikram
Prabhu plays the role of
a cab driver and interestingly
unlike its title;
the film has nothing to
do with the legendary
actor Sivaji Ganesan.
Interestingly, the role of
the hero is inspired by
Marathi king Chhatrapati
Sivaji. Also a courageous
warrior, he was
known for his guerrilla
warfare skills and
would use calculated
tactics to fight enemies.
Similarly, in this film
Vikram Prabhu tricks
his enemies and attacks
them in a different way.
Sri Thenandal Films
have grabbed the release
rights of the film.

You Judge Me”,
reported a Magazine.
Abrams and Smiley
will serve as executive
producers
for the event series,
though no network
has picked up the
drama yet.
Smiley and the Bad
Robot partners last
worked together on
the 2015 adaptation
of Smiley’s Martin
Luther King, Jr book

ORIGINAL ‘STAR TREK’ ACTOR PAYS TRIBUTE TO ANTON
“Star Trek” stalwart
Walter Koenig has paid
a touching tribute to his
film counterpart Anton
Yelchin following the
young actor’s untimely
passing.
Yelchin, 27, was killed
after his Jeep rolled
down his driveway and
crushed him against a
brick pillar at his San
Fernando Valley home
in California on Sunday,
according to an
entertainment website.
Yelchin played the character
of Pavel Chekov
in the three recent film
versions of the sci-fi
story.
Koenig, who played
Chekov in the 1960s series
and its subsequent
films, offered his condolences
saying, “We
spoke on a sound stage
for about two hours. His
reputation as an artist
preceded him, however.
I knew I was in the
presence of a gifted performer.
“What I learned that
day was how bright
and sensitive he was. I
walked away thinking
- this is a good person.
My heart goes out to
his mother and father. I
know what you’re going
through.”
Koenig went through
his own shocking tragedy
in 2010, after his
actor son, Andrew, was
found dead in a Canadian
park after he went
missing. His death was
ruled a suicide.
Meanwhile, Yelchin’s
“Alpha Dog” co-star Justin
Timberlake took to
Twitter to pay his respects
to the late actor,
writing, “Anton Yelchin.
Genius actor. Amazing
human being. Gone
WAY too soon. May he
rest in peace.”
Fellow castmate
Emile Hirsch tweeted,
“I can’t believe Anton
is gone. He was a great
man, a true friend, and
an artist. Love you buddy.”
The late actor has
also been honoured by
his co-stars such as Zoe
Saldana, Zachary Quinto,
John Cho and director
JJ Abrams, as well as
members of the original
Star Trek TV series, including
George Takei
and William Shatner.
Yelchin’s death is
currently under investigation
by both Los
Angeles authorities and
representatives from
Fiat Chrysler, the maker
of the actor’s Jeep,
after reports indicated
his and other 2015 Jeep
Grand Cherokees were
part of a recall linked
to other ‘roll away’ incidents.

RAM CHARAN RETURNS
Following his disastrous
last film Bruce
Lee which released last
year, Mega Power Star
Ram Charan took a long
gap to begin the shooting
of his next film,
Dhruva. Even though
the film was launched
several months ago,
Charan joined the team
only in June.
Dhruva is currently
into its third schedule
and according to
confirmed sources,
the makers decided
to release the film on
the 30th of September
to cash in on the pre-
Dasara hype and craze
before the festive season
further boosts the
collections until mid to
late October.
However, Charan’s
poor Dasara track record
is bothering fans.
Barring his debut film,
Chirutha, which released
on September
28 in 2007, all of Charan’s
later films which
released during the
Dasara season such as
Thoofan (Sep 6), Govindudu
Andarivadele (Oct
1) and the last year’s
nightmare Bruce Lee
(Oct 16) were huge loss
ventures.
His fans are desperately
hoping that Charan
will bounce back to
his success streak with
Dhruva at least, but are
simultaneously wary of
the fact that Charan is
once again risking with
his unluckiest season.
