Living a Dream,
ONE SONG AT A TIME
Music has always been a part of
UR IT model Annie Morgan’s life,
but she didn’t expect overnight
success for a song she wrote and
recently recorded with her iPhone.
“It was like any other Monday for
me. I wrote a song called ‘If You
Could See Me Fly’ and uploaded
it to Facebook. Nothing unusual,”
said Annie, a self-proclaimed
country girl from Mahaffey,
Pennsylvania.
She shared her video with a few
friends and went to bed, thinking
nothing of it since she has been
writing and playing music since
she was nine years old.
“I’m no stranger to music,” said
Annie, whose parents both play piano and
are her biggest supporters. “I was homeschooled
and had plenty of time to sit at my
old upright piano and practice.”
That practice has made all the difference
and Annie awoke that Tuesday morning in
September to find her video had over 40,000
views.
“My life changed forever,” she said. “Since
then, it has been reaching people all over
the world. I started receiving messages from
people in Kenya, Ireland, Scotland, Australia,
Canada, Nova Scotia, and England just
to name a few. “They all were sending me
pictures of their loved ones who had gone
on to heaven and were sharing their personal
stories with me about how my song has in
some way touched their life.”
Her country-style song is about the loss of a
child. It is sung as the voice of a little child
in Heaven talking to their mom who still
remains on Earth.
Within two weeks, Annie received thousands
of messages and even more comments on her
new song than she ever imagined she would.
The video, at the time, had over 4.5 million
views on Facebook alone. Within one week,
Annie’s Facebook page dedicated to her music
gained 16,000 “likes.”
“My YouTube channel is blowing up and
I’ve been receiving too many notifications to
count from people subscribing to me so they
can hear more of my music,” said Annie.
“I’ve had success with other original songs
that I’ve posted on Facebook as well, but
nothing quite like this.”
Every day, Annie is becoming more and
more surprised at the success of “If You
Could See Me Fly.”
“I really believe my song is touching so many
people because it talks about something almost
everyone has at some point had to deal
with: Loss,” shared Annie, who has always
wanted to touch lives. “It’s giving millions of
people comfort and hope.”
Now is her golden opportunity to touch
lives, she said, and she is seizing it!
The success of the song early on resulted in
an interview with WTAJ News, a station
in central Pennsylvania that
caught up with Annie during
UR IT Magazine’s fall fashion
show in Altoona, Pennsylvania in
September. The station aired her
interview and a segment of the
song, which was a very exciting
opportunity for Annie.
“I’ve made the front page of
different newspapers around the
area and TV!” she exclaimed,
wondering what could come
next. “I’m so blessed that I can do
something with my music to be
proud of and show the world that
if you keep pushing forward, you
can make it!”
Besides her singing success, Annie
has also been a model since
she was young. Being a part of UR IT over
the past two years has given her “the chance
to feel beautiful and confident again” after
she birthed her daughter, Abigail, who will
turn two in June. She said working with the
UR IT staff is inspirational and a joy.
“Thanks to their support and encouragement,
they’ve given me back my desire to
be in front of the camera again and not be
afraid of what people might think,” Annie
said. “You are who you are and no one
should every be ashamed of that.”
She leaves others with this advice: “It took
me 16 years to finally get my big break and
if I would’ve given up, I’d never be where I
am today. My best advice is, don’t give up
on your dreams no matter how big they are.
Nothing is impossible!”
See Me Fly” at concert schedule at www.
now available on iTunes and will be available
