Various ATEX conveyors
can be configured on line
The Piab product line
now includes ATEX gas
approved piFLOWp and
piFLOWt conveyors.
Until now, companies
involved in the chemical and
pharmaceutical industries
have only been able to
purchase ATEX gas and dust
certified versions of Piab’s
vacuum conveyors by special
order. But now, customers
can visit the Piab website and
configure the most suitable
version of these conveyors for
there needs online.
“Our easy-to-use product
configurator enables
customers to choose a
conveyor configuration that
is certified according to the
ATEX directive for both dust
and gas, as well as one that is
customised to meet the specific
requirements of a particular
application,” explains Jarno
Tahvanainen, VP of Piab’s
Material Handling division.
With Piab’s ATEX certified
conveyors, all plastic and
rubber parts – including the
filters and seals used between
sheet metal parts – are made
of dissipative (antistatic)
Customers can visit the Piab website and configure all ATEX conveyors
materials. Also, all complete
modules or units are fitted with
seals of synthetic rubber (nitrile
butadiene rubber, NBR) which
have antistatic properties.
Piab offers an extensive
range of ATEX certified
products which can be
combined to form over 300
different configuration options
for complete conveyors that
will match a customer’s
particular requirement.
Effective from April 20,
2016, the new ATEX
Directive (2014/34/EU) has
no implications for Piab’s
hardware, but all product
documentation, instructions
and declarations of conformity
are being updated to refer to
this new Directive.

Safety light curtain
and multi-beam light
barriers introduction

company Bernstein has added
a new safety light curtain and
safety multi-beam light barriers
to its range of products to ensure
reliable protection for operators
against hazardous machines in
production environments.
“Light curtains SOC and
safety multi-beam light barriers
SOM are ideal for safety in
industrial workplaces,” says
Bernstein managing director
Rob Emms. “The major benefit
of these products is that they
operate without contact and can
safeguard access points without
barriers, which are essential in
some production processes.”
Also available is a simple
blanking programme with failsafe
PNP outputs and potential
free solid-state relay. Signal
can be directly implemented
to a safety controller or can be
connected to the Bernstein safety
relay SCR ON.

influences due to machine

arrangement.
